I shop here online quite often as I like the fit, price, and styles, and usually it's because I'm exactly halfway between about 3 different store locations, so none are convenient. Sometimes, it pays to read the return policy before pulling the trigger. I learned a few interesting and important things you all might want to take into account.
J. Crew retail items
Will accept unworn, unwashed, undamaged or defective merchandise for full refund or exchange within 30 days of original purchase. Requests for refund or exchange of merchandise purchased by cash or check must be accompanied by the original receipt. Refunds will be made in the form of the original payment. Requests to exchange merchandise received as a gift must be accompanied by a gift receipt. Additionally, no order shipped internationally can be returned to a retail location.
J. Crew phone/internet items
Can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of purchase (not the 30 as retail items). J. Crew CAN give refunds/exchanges of purchases made by phone/internet in US stores but NOT CANADA (sorry, guys). SHIT. I done fucked up. Ignore that, and know this, instead: J.Crew phone and Internet purchases cannot be returned to J.Crew retail store locations in Canada. J.Crew phone and Internet purchases shipped internationally (outside of Canada and Japan) may not be returned to any retail location.
J. Crew Factory retail items
Similarly, within 30 days of in-store purchase.
J. Crew Factory phone/internet items
Similarly, within 60 days of purchase. Additionally, phone/online J. Crew Factory purchases CAN be returned to J. Crew Factory store locations and, in fact, this is what prompted me to write this all up. Good to know.
Final Reminder
J. Crew items can only be returned to J. Crew, and J. Crew Factory returned only to J. Crew factory via any of the applicable methods above.
I think that about covers it. Someone correct me if I got anything wrong. Shit can be confusing.
Yea. This change in return policy to 30 days is quite sneaky. Especially since it took 3 weeks for the shipment to get to me
I have like 10 J Crew locations nearby (manhattan) but no j crew factory... how would I return something to them? Can I mail it back? Can I return to a regular J Crew store?
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention this yet...
J.Crew changed their return policy from 60 days to 30 days on April 5. Anything that shipped before then will still have the 60 day return window, but anything after that is down to 30 days.
I don’t think they sent out an email or anything that mentioned the change; I just happened to notice it on a recent order packing slip/receipt and asked CS about it.
Caveat emptor!
Just had a question: I bought a number of things online from the J Crew website (NOT J Crew Factory) and would now like to return several of them. Can I drop by my local J Crew Factory store to return them? Or must I go to the J Crew store or return them by mail?
Thanks for the advice, guys.
I just bought something listed as J.Crew- but when I received it I realized it was J.Crew factory. The quality is just no the same - it is a very flimsy and scratchy. Will Mercari grant a return based on this?
Just wanted everyone to know that JCrew seems to have gotten rid of the free returns policy. I noticed that they had a tag line that for a limited time free returns only for JCrew Rewards Members. So I checked their site and if you use their label, its $7.50 for a return.

So my mom was in Alabama this week and I asked her to stop and pick me up some pants from the J Crew factory sale they had this weekend. Well the pants don't fit. I'd like to exchange them for a size smaller, but there isn't a Factory in my state. Am I SOL?
I placed an order on 5/23 and paid for expedited shipping, which went out 5/24. I received my order on 5/28.
I returned some items from the order and dropped off the shipment on 6/17, well within the 30 day window. I paid $7.95 for the return label.
Today, I received an email that my refund is in the form of a gift card because it was not received or processed within the 30 day time period. Are you kidding me?
Apparently the 30 day window starts when the items ship (not received) AS WELL AS the time it takes THEM to receive and process the return, which took 3 f*cking weeks. Are you kidding me?
So considering I received my package on 5/28, by this logic I would have had to return my package 5/26, 2 days before I even received it. This is a straight up SCAM. I'm livid.
Is this new? Because I've bought and returned from JCrew many times and this was never an issue. Wondering if anyone can comment on this. I'm shocked to not see any other mentions.
Has anyone noticed quality issues with either of these sub brands? I would need to order online so I can't see first hand. I'm assuming they are a bit lesser in quality than the main brands but how bad are they, do they look cheap?
There's a pair of pants I'm looking at to complete a suit but it's a tough call on if they'll fit and they're marked final sale. Has anyone had success taking back stuff marked final sale (I'd even settle for store credit honestly)
Went to my neighborhood J Crew Factory store (west palm beach) and saw some crazy deals on what I found out were returns from online orders on Jcrew.com.
Saw new Balance 791's and I believe stan smith's for $25.
Not sure if this is a common thing or just started, figured you all would like to know! :)
Ho lee fuk. 791s for 25.....meanwhile I'm waiting for my backordered ones to ship.
Class got cancelled going to drive to jcf (normally never go it's 30+ minutes)
Will update if I cop anything
Edit: nothing from mainline jcrew at my store but I copped slim v necks and stripped hoodie
Edit: didn't even buy the v neck they were backorder in xs :(
