I currently work for a J Crew Mercantile (basically a factory, but not in an outlet setting). From what I've seen, store sales are almost always better than online. I have only seen a few items that were discounted more online than in store. Also, if you live near one, go in store to make online purchases. Some managers wave all shipping costs if you order in the store, and it goes to your house, not the store. If you happen to see an item marked down further online than in the store, let the manager know and they'll probably change the price at purchase for you. Every manager runs their stores differently, so maybe mine is just being super nice.
