Hi weddit! My partner and I recently got engaged. We've set a budget and are diving into planning. We're hoping to get married in spring/summer 2019. I've always wanted a simple dress, and I've always had two particular dresses in mind:
J. Crew "Cecilia" Wedding dress
BHLDN "Crepe de Chine" Column Gown
Both are fairly simple, and similar (simple, column dress, capped sleeves, V-neck). To my dismay, both have been discontinued and I can't seem to find them on any re-sale/pre-owned sites (there's an ebay listing for the cecilia in a size 16, but I'm a size 2 and imagine that I can't alter that dramatically).
I've scoured the internet, and the closest dress currently available is the BHLDN "Sawyer" gown, which has an open back. I'm open to it, but my hear longs for one of my two original dream gowns.
So I'm coming to you for help:
Have you seen either of these dresses for sale/resale anywhere?
Do you know anyone who would sell me one (happy to buy a size up or down)?
Can you recommend a similar dress I should look at?
Hi everyone! I’m looking for the J.Crew “Florence” wedding dress (or something very similar) in a size 8 or 10.
It’s the long-sleeved ivory silk gown with buttons down the back and a fitted waist , timeless and simple. I recently came across one in a smaller size, and now I’m determined to find it in my size for my December wedding.
If anyone is selling one, or has spotted it on any resale sites, I’d love to buy it. I’d also consider other J.Crew bridal styles from the same collection if they have a similar look.
Thanks so much, this dress would truly make my wedding! (Will add a photo for reference if allowed)
Hi weddit! You guys are so great with dresses I'm hoping you can help me find a dress similar to one I've fallen in love with that's been discontinued. I spotted the J.Crew Dauphine in one of their Real Weddings features here and love the high neck, cap sleeves, A-line fit, and simplicity of the chiffon. The actual dress has a small opening in the back but it looks like the bride in the feature had the opening covered which I absolutely love (biggest dress pet peeve so far is open backs on every. single. dress.) I've looked on eBay and the dress is nowhere to be found, I guess it's been too long since it came out, which I think might have been 2013. Any recommendations for A-line dresses with a high neck, covered back, and short sleeves?
I bought several secondhand dresses before finally finding “the one” — I’m now selling two of them, both from J.Crew’s discontinued bridal line, both size 6 (true to street size), both super comfortable, and both in great, gently used condition (not by me). Perfect for a fellow minimalist/budget-savvy bride. Feel free to message me if you’re interested!
