r/HearingAids on Reddit: Jabra pro 20 vs jabra select 500
June 8, 2024 -

I tested and tried various hearing aids at both an audiologist & Costco. I really like the Jabra Pro 20 at Costco. However, with my insurance discount, the Jabra 500 Select direct from Jabra are less (with an extra year of warranty & loss protection-3 yrs Jabra vs 2 years Costco). Costco $1699 for the Jabra 20 pro, $1595 Jabra 500 select direct w/my discounts.

I've tried to compare the 2 models for similarities/ differences, but cannot find one. Does anyone know how the 2 models compare? I'm pretty good at googling but I struck out. Ideally I'd like a line by line comparison, but even bullet points would work. I did read the article on soundly. Just wondering if there's any other place I could read I up.

As a side note, my loss is moderate, I'm very tech savvy and over the ear is a must. We're also an Android family. This is my very first pair so I want to get it right. (Also if anyone has experience with federal bcbs & hearing aids I'd love to to hear from you- I'm getting conflicting info and of course they're closed for the day...)

Thank you!

r/HearingAids on Reddit: Is there really a difference between the Jabra Enhance Select 500 and the Jabra Enhance Pro 20
September 22, 2024 -

Seventy-three-year-old retiree tired of asking "What did you say" and my Nurse Practitioner daughter telling me to get my hearing tested. As the title states, I see conflicting info on whether these are the same or different. I know they are both rebranded versions of the Resound Nexia, but which model of Nexia do they most match? I can get them direct from Jabra with AARP price of $1799 or Costco for $1599. We are not members of Costco so would need to get a $65 per year membership so over the three-year warranty it would be $195 for the membership. We have Sam's membership and have never consider a Costco membership. We are about 10 miles from the nearest Costco so that is not an issue. Costco allowed me to come in for testing and looking at models without purchasing a membership so I have that scheduled on September 27. I am comfortable with remote service if we go with direct. Any help on clarification of the differences and experiences would be appreciated.

The Jabra Enhance Pro 20 is the Premium tier 'technology level'. The Jabra Enhance Select 500 is the Advanced tier 'technology level', so one technology level down. If you pay for the premium service with the Enhance Select 500, you get the custom audiogram pre-programmed to you. If you get the basic version with the lower tier warranty, they supposedly just program the generic program which may or may not be a good fit (general age-related loss profile.) In practice, if you pay Jabra directly, the Enahance Select 500 costs *more* for a slightly worse hearing aid, and you don't get the fitting with real ear measurements, feedback thresholds etc. IMHO, get the Costco membership, cancel the Sam's Club membership (their hearing aids are not nearly as good or cost-effective) Also, are you using a ReSound now? Are you happy with it? They tend to emphasize (over-emphasize?) speech. Some folks prefer that, some don't like how it doesn't sound natural enough. Also if you're going to use it with your phone at all, I hope you have an iPhone. ReSound does not work reliably with Android. It work, but drops connection frequently and sometimes needs to be re-paired. IMHO, I'd look at the Philips 9050, Rexton Reach, and then the Jabra Pro 20 in that order.

Regardless of other factors, if costco is $200 less, but you need to spend $65 x3 = $195 for membership, you are still $5 ahead, and effectively have a free membership for three years. What's the downside? Also, you might want to ask whether you need to maintain membership in order to get service after the first year. You wouldn't be making any purchases. The door keepers won' t keep you out if you have a reason to enter without membership: for example, in some states, there's no membership required to use the pharmacy.

Jabra Enhance Pro 20 Vs. Jabra Enhance Select 500: In-Depth Differences
June 17, 2025 - Music streaming on the Select 500 sounded tinny, not ideal for my playlists. At 2.56g, they felt heavy after 10 hours. The app froze once during a commute, needing a restart. Setup was a 45-minute struggle, with tiny domes hard to swap. No Auracast meant less future-proofing. My moderate loss was fine, but severe cases won’t benefit. Virtual support felt impersonal, and $1,995 stung. The 3-hour charge time was inconvenient for my schedule. ... Jabra Enhance Pro 20 Vs.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro. Im using Jabra Enhanced Pro to control my HAs over Bluetooth 5.0.

While visiting the App Store, I noticed the Jabra Enhanced Select. I’m curious about the difference between the two apps. The Pro version is working fine and is fully integrated with my HAs.
