There is a /s option in JRE installer (see here), so basically you can. However, you will have to somehow download JRE to client's workstation. I suggest using wget for this.

However, you can also use java-to-exe wrappers - JSmooth for example can automagically download JRE for you if it is not installed.

If you do not set the PATH variable, you need to specify the full path to the executable file every time you run it, such as:

C:> "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0\bin\javac" MyClass.java

It is useful to set the PATH variable permanently so it will persist after rebooting.

To set the PATH variable permanently, add the full path of the jdk1.8.0\bin directory to the PATH variable. Typically, this full path looks something like C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0\bin. Set the PATH variable as follows on Microsoft Windows:

Click Start, then Control Panel, then System.

Click Advanced, then Environment Variables.

Add the location of the bin folder of the JDK installation to the PATH variable in System Variables. The following is a typical value

for the PATH variable:

C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0\bin

Note:

The PATH environment variable is a series of directories separated by semicolons (;) and is not case-sensitive. Microsoft Windows looks

for programs in the PATH directories in order, from left to right.

You should only have one bin directory for a JDK in the path at a time. Those following the first instance are ignored.

If you are not sure where to add the JDK path, append it.

The new path takes effect in each new command window you open after setting the PATH variable.

Latest versions of (desktop) Windows (i.e. current versions of Windows 11) come with Microsoft's package manager Windows Package Manager pre-installed which includes the winget command line tool. If your version of Windows does not have winget pre-installed, you can install the Windows Package Manager from the Microsoft Store as part of the App Installer package. Installation packages are also available on the project page on GitHub.

Windows Package Manager supports Windows 10 1809 and up, i.e. all Windows client versions of the last 5 years (but not Windows Server).

Windows Package Manager uses so-called repositories to find the packages to install. The two repositories which are configured by default are the msstore repository (which lets you install any package from the Microsoft Store) and the winget repository (a community-curated repository of packages which are not available in the Microsoft Store). You can also add third-party repositories but like with any package manager, it is your responsibility to correctly asses how much trust you want to place into the curator(s) of those repositories.

Packages for Oracle Java SE JDK are available in the winget repository and can be installed like this:

winget install --exact --id Oracle.JDK.19

Currently, the winget repository contains no fewer than 65 different JDK packages for any of your Java development needs.

then you can try using:

java -version

to check version
