You can look into OpenJDK, which is an open source version of Java. I use it on my linux machine and it runs great. You'd have to build and install it yourself or download a binary from a website you trust. Oracle doesn't distribute official OpenJDK binaries for Windows. Java is the programming language that Minecraft is made in. If you installed Minecraft, it should also install Java.
