I bought these earphones shortly after they came out last spring I believe. I wanted something I could workout with, and keep on if I wanted to shower (not wash my hair ofc). I wanted good bass, good noise canceling, and something with a long battery life that won’t fall out.
PROS: -VERY long battery life. I’d wear them for hours and hours and hours and they wouldn’t die. I’d only charge the case one every couple weeks, and it was a quick charge. -they are water resistant- I’ve taken many showers with them (but carefully, not trying to get them wet). -somewhat durable/durable case.
CONS: -so fucking uncomfortable. They would make my ears sore. No real way to change the size of them like in others where you can switch out the rubber tips- bc of how big they are. -horrible volume- even at its most loud, wasn’t loud at all imo. Not noise canceling at all. It always sounded far away… they just didn’t fit right in my ears and were not soft or forgiving. -one of them randomly one day just lost 75% of its audio ability. Literally operating max 25% volume (which already was low) at FULL volume. Most of the time just couldn’t hear anything at all. -tap to control volume/play pause ect was annoying real fast. It was so sensitive even the slightest accidental brush would pause it.
I lost the left one a week ago and finally had an excuse to buy new ones. Bought the nothing ear (a) and already SO in love with them-will report back as time goes on!! Not to expensive either.
TLDR; fuck JBL endurance peak 3 don’t wast ur money or time. Your ears will thank you.
Do you really need a picture? They look kinda weird until you put them on and look in the mirror. They look normal enough when I have them on, although it's very obvious that I've got earphones in. I think that's a good thing. It's weird when people come up talking to me without realizing I can't hear them.
I just got them today, so these are just first impressions. Nevertheless, they're very positive. These are $40 on Amazon.
Pros: Good isolation. Bass is low but not boomy, very nice. Mids are smooth and accurate. Treble is detailed but not harsh or sibilant. Imaging is really good. I can hear different instruments coming from different locations, and not just right, left or center. They jump into the bluetooth connection easily, and have held it without issue. There's one button, which is on/off. Very simple to operate. I haven't tried using them for phone calls, but that's not really what I got them for. They are supposedly waterproof to the extent that you can submerge them for 30 minutes, according to the manual.
Cons: The packaging, while attractive, is a bit maddening to try to get into. The soundstage is pretty typical for IEMs, being inside my skull. I haven't tried binaural recordings, yet. There's not a lot of refinement in the dynamic range. There's a subtle noise, almost similar to a tape hiss, if you have the volume up too high. That's to be expected. It's not very noticeable if you turn the volume on the IEMs as low as it will go, and turn up the volume on your phone. But it is there, if you're listening to classical music recorded quietly, and are paying careful attention. But, then, that's not what these are made for. There is no way to plug them into anything. They're bluetooth only. I have to learn how to push them more firmly into my ears without touching the buttons that adjust volume, pause, etc.
Comparison: My other headphones are HD6XX and HE400i. I would put them in this order, for my personal preference: 6XX > JBL > 400i. They're not as fast and accurate as the 400i, and not as smooth and refined as the 6XX. But they have a more pleasant timbre than the 400i, and lower bass than either of the others. The 6XX bass has more subtle dynamics, though.
Conclusion: These are shockingly good quality for $40. That I'm comfortable talking about them in the same paragraph as $150 and $200 headphones is amazing. That I would prefer them over $150 open-back planars is almost enough to make me question my ears. But, here I am, listening to "Lascia ch'io pianga" being sung by Bernadette Greevy, and feeling pretty satisfied. And then here I am, listening to "The Mountain Will Fall" by DJ Shadow, and also feeling pretty satisfied. These will definitely make my workouts go by faster.
