May 12, 2025 - John Boles, whose rugged good looks and resonant baritone won him fame as a star of the musical film "The Desert Song," died of a heart attack yesterday in San Angelo, Tex., where he had lived for the last 13 years. He was 73 years old.

Boles married Marcelite Dobbs in 1917, and the couple had two daughters: Frances and Janet. They remained married until he died of a heart attack on February 27, 1969 at the age of 73.
