I'm so close to taking the plunge on a Joybird sectional, but I'm balking a bit at the price. With couch, warranty, delivery, and tax it'll come out to $3066. I love the look of it, have already tested the fabric swatch I have, and read copious reviews. I just want to know how it holds up over time.
Any insight (or similar recs) is appreciated!

February 27, 2020Love the look of joybird furniture, but not the quality. What to get instead?
Okay. Here's what you do. Photo all the Joybird stuff you love. Then you call up the Comfortable Couch Company - They can copy just about anything. When they first got started, I was in love with the Restoration Hardware line of leather couches. Some research showed they used really terrible (seriously like a frame made of pallet wood, and foam cushions that crumble) materials and build quality, and wrapped it in high end leather. Resulting in beautiful couches that disintegrate after a year or two... I called up CoCoCohome.com and sent them photos of the couch I liked, and they copied it. They used proper kiln dried hardwood, pocketed coil springs - but they could've used 8 way hand-tied coils had I asked. They wrapped the memory foam core cushions in duck down, and then used my chosen leather... at the time it was called Brompton Chestnut - but basically its a Full grain leather of a thickness you'd normally see on baseball gloves. It only looks better 14 years later. At the time Cococohome was in a shack in Corvalis, NC I think.. now they have design centers in a lot of major cities so you can actually visit them and see what you need - in years past I did everything via email and they were a breeze to work with. My custom piece took about 3 months to make, and 3 weeks for white-glove delivery. They're bigger now so I doubt it will take as long to manufacture your piece. I'm getting ready to buy a new couch from them right now. Upgrading to a chesterfield for my living room.
