January 19, 2025What keyboards do y’all recommend for iPad Air 4th gen (that won’t break the bank)
I use two low cost options that work great even with old tablets. My keyboard is the Logitech K380 and I’ve been using it for years. It is the best keyboard I’ve ever used and I’ve used many. It gets unbelievable battery life if you use Energizers. And I love the round keys which make more sense to me than the usual rectangular ones. My mouse of choice now is the Rapique R306. It’s very cheap (under $20 on Amazon) and it has a scroll wheel that’s smooth and more like Apple’s Magic Mouse than a scroll wheel mouse. I have a bit of arthritis in my hand and this mouse doesn’t hurt when I use it. It connects quickly and stays connected to my Air 5, but I haven’t used it with an older device so I can’t assess the connectivity with an older tablet. I use a horrible cheap Logitech with my Air 2 (iPadOS 15) and it jerks around the screen and turns off once in awhile. I don’t know if the problem is the mouse or the older and slower tablet and OS. But the Rapique works perfectly also with my slow Lenovo M11 tablet so it might work just as well with an old iPad. More on reddit.com

The Logitech Combo Touch is a good alternative. It's two separate pieces, and the portion acting as a case provides a kickstand and decent bump protection around the edges. This is a wired keyboard that connects directly via the accessory pins on the back of the iPad, much like the Magic Keyboard, so there's no separate battery to charge, and no potential for bluetooth issues.
