I have been using a new Keychron K10 for the last 2 weeks or so, and wanted to offer my thoughts and opinions (as there doesn't seem to be too much info about this board out there yet).
First off, my experience with keebs is rather limited - I have not (yet) built my own board, but instead have purchased a couple of pre-built boards over the years (so don't expect any lengthy discussion about band-aid mods!). I started with a Rosewill RK-9000V2 w/ MX browns, then moved briefly to a Ducky One 2 TKL board with MX clears, and have now landed on the K10 (full) with Gateron browns.
Pros:
-The K10 is a full size board with backlight, bluetooth connectivity, optional aluminum frame, and optional hot-swappable configuration for a pretty reasonable price ($84 - $114 or so, depending on options). It also comes with a braided USB C cable (which I believe I should be able to hand coil if I want to)
-The board provides a fairly "thocky" sound. I have read reviews of other keychron models, and a common complaint seems to be that the boards have a cheap / thin sound. I was worried about this but the K10 sounds great to me. See the "typing" video linked at the end of this post to judge for yourself!
-Bluetooth seems to work really well, and has the option to switch between 3 devices easily (I switch from my work laptop to home PC for the last 10 days or so and it has worked great so far)
Cons:
-Some of the stabilized keys didn't sound great right out of the box (they had a "clickier" sound than I like). I purchased some Krytox GPL 205 G0 from kebo and lubed the stabs as best I could (the hotswappable model was out of stock when I ordered, and I don't have the confidence to unsolder my board, so I just lubed as best I could with what I was able to access). You can hear a sound test before and after the lube in the videos below. The minor lubing I was able to accomplish improved the sound a lot.
-I'm not in love with the abs keycaps. After briefly experimenting with the Ducky One 2 PBT keycaps, the keychron keycaps seem like a step back (I really liked the grainy feel of the PBT caps). I've purchased a set of PBT keycaps to replace the stock abs caps that come with the K10 but they have not yet arrived.
-The USB C connection to the board is on the "left" side of the case. This isn't really a "con" for me, but if you expect to use a coiled USB cable, it might look a little funky

Some thoughts on my previous two mech boards:
-I previously had purchased and returned a Ducky One 2 Tuxedo (TKL) board, and while I loved the feel of the PBT keycaps, and enjoyed the fairly "Thocky" sound, I returned the board as I didn't realize how much I use the 10 key (I had no idea how often I use the enter key on the keypad in my normal keyboarding use until it wasn't there!). It was also really hard to make aesthetic decisions to match the Tuxedo board as it has a Navy case (Navy doesn't look good on/next to black, so I struggled to find a professional looking desk mat, and mouse). I should note that the MX clear switches were a bit too heavy for me at the start, although I was starting to get used to them right as I was deciding to return the board (once I consciously started trying to stop bottoming out, the typing experience improved).
-Previous to the Ducky purchase and return I had been using a Rosewill RK-9000V2 with Cherry MX Brown switches. This board was my first foray into mechanical keyboards, and it was definitely serviceable, but compared to both the K10 and the Ducky One 2 it really lacks a satisfying sound (sounds cheap and "tinny") and there are issues with USB connectivity (which got annoying enough that I started shopping for a new board).
Currently I have a Razer Blackwidow Elite, with the Volume rocker... full size with clicky keys.
My reasons for wanting the Keychron K10 is:
I Want hot swappable keys.
Several keys on my keyboard have lost their click/tactile bump. Basically those keys now feel like a linear switch rather than the clicky switches I prefer. No ability to swap those switches without soldering the board. I like knowing that if any of the switches go bad, I can just replace it painlessly.
2. I like the look of the K10 Pro.
Black keys, with some dark blue/greyish blue and red enter key and esc key. It really appeals to me. I also love the Playstation buttons they have above the num pad.
3. I like the idea of being able to use QMK/VIA to create my own custom macros and be able to have them persist even when you disconnect the keyboard and connect it to another PC.
4. I like being able to switch between wired mode and bluetooth mode.
I have some raspberry Pis and other servers running in my house. Also, my desk has both my desktop PC and also I connect my monitors to my work laptop during work hours... but use a separate keyboard. Would like to be able to not have to have two separate keyboards.
My employer won't allow me to install 3rd party macro software. So while my Work-dedicated mechanical keyboard (Another Razer mechanical keyboard I have) works fine, I can't run macros because those macros only work with the Software installed. There are some macros that would really help my work flow quite a bit.
I like that I could just switch between wired/bluetooth mode in order to switch output between my work PC and personal.
I have some questions though.
How easy is it to switch between wired mode and the different bluetooth connected devices? Is it something that can be programmed to one of the buttons? I dont want to have to flip some tiny recessed switch, is what I'm getting at.
How bad is the latency for non-competitive/non-pro gamers?
I'm a gamer.... but I dont really pay competively against other players nor do I really play online games. Mostly single player. Half the time I game, I'm using Steam Link and perfectly happy even with the latency using my 8bitdo controller + steam link, using the Living room TV. I dont think I'm super sensitive to lag. Is the latency for the K10 good for someone who isn't playing games competitively? How is customer support?
I've heard some people complain about support being non-existant... but heard from other posts that had the opposite experience and got replacement parts. Mostly Keychron, if they help you... just demand proof that something has gone faulty by providing photo/video evidence of the issue. I really dont mind that.
4. I know Keychron has some keyboards that have a volume knob. Can that switch be removed and replaced if it goes bad? I'm leaning towards getting a separate USB connected volume knob, as I prefer adjusting volume by rolling something. I know that sounds silly, but I know I'll miss the volume knob on my current keyboard.
5. What assurance do I have that these keyboards absolutely, positively do not have Keyloggers installed? I know that sounds like a weird question to ask, but I do have to ask.
6. Is it possible to get the K10 Pro with Gateron Blue Switches? And just to clarify, Gateron Blue switches are the equivalent of Cherry MX Blues, right? I am having a hard time finding a K10 Pro on Amazon with blue switches.
Sorry for the super long post.

This is my first mechanical keyboard ever. I bought it after watching a tier list video by a YouTuber called Switch and Click**.** Out of all the keyboards she reviewed, this was the only one rated as S Tier**.** Here’s the link in case anyone wants to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNzymwDaLCE
When the keyboard arrived and I unboxed it, my first reaction was: Where am I?! Everything felt new and unfamiliar—the weight, the look and feel, the materials (metal and wood), the backlighting, RGB patterns, firmware updates, OS toggle, connection switch. Honestly, I had never experienced anything like this. I’ve always used a basic Logitech K270. So you can imagine the leap of faith this was for me.
Since I don’t have other mechanical keyboard experiences to compare, I can only say I was overwhelmed. The build feels heavy and well-made, but at the same time, somewhat unfinished. Some keys have spelling errors or inconsistent font sizes—like “pgup,” “pgdn,” and an oddly oversized “num clear.” There are also two “MS” and “control” keys. Some keys are missing letters, while others seem overloaded with them.
The backlighting is impressive, but the keycaps themselves are not backlit. I checked, and they’re using the Gateron Magnetic Nebula Linear switches (K10H-F1). This was one of the biggest disappointments for me—how can such a premium keyboard come without shine-through keycaps?
Even more surprising: there’s no white color option in the RGB settings. The keyboard offers a wide range of colors and effects, but not a simple, clean white light. I found that odd, especially since white is a basic option in most RGB setups.
So here’s my question for fellow mechanical keyboard users: Is this normal?
If not, what compatible set of shine-through keycaps would you recommend for this model?
The Keychron online personalization/configurator system feels confusing and oddly advanced for someone like me. But again, these are my first impressions in the mechanical keyboard world. The keyboard seems to allow deep customization—you can adjust many variables, including key responsiveness. It’s very complete, and I have a feeling I’ll be spending many hours exploring all its features.
One last point: the packaging. The box had a tear on the left side, as if it had been previously opened or mishandled. Worse, it smelled strongly of cigars. Combined with the fact that I bought it from the official Keychron store on AliExpress, this left a very poor impression regarding storage or shipping conditions.
I was looking around online for a decent wireless keyboard and many different places told me that Keychron was the way to go. I bought the K10 pro because I did not like the Q series look and it seemed a bit expensive for a keyboard (maybe this was my problem, trying to spend only 100USD instead of 200), and it seemed like a lot of people really liked this brand.
Well I just got it in the mail and plugged it in. Feels great to type on but the wireless capability is completely broken. It didn't want to connect to my computer unless the keyboard was essentially resting on the PC case, and even when it was connected the input lag is unbearable and it repeats keys on its own making it useless as a wireless keyboard. I am really feeling ripped off because it seems like a a really well made keyboard in every respect except for the wireless mode -- which was the entire reason I bought it.
EDIT: I have tried just about everything that everyone else on this sub have suggested and nothing has changed the fact that the wireless mode sucks. I wonder if I bought a separate bluetooth transmitter and receiver and plugged them into the keyboard and my PC would work (similar to what my logitech mouse uses)
Hey folks,
A couple of days ago, I finally got my first mechanical HE keyboard from Keychron after diving deep into Reddit threads, Google searches, and YouTube reviews. I’ll be honest—I was a bit hesitant at first because of the mixed feedback, especially regarding customer support and random issues with Keychron products. That’s exactly why I grabbed mine from Amazon during a solid discount, just for that extra peace of mind when it comes to customer support or generous return policy.
The keyboard arrived right on time, nicely packaged, and fully sealed. Huge relief when I confirmed all the accessories were there and the board was in perfect condition. The build quality feels surprisingly premium for the price, and the typing experience is satisfyingly thocky without putting much strain on my fingers—though I’ll know for sure after a bit more use. Visually, it nails that clean, professional look I was hoping for.
I’m currently using it via the 2.4 GHz wireless dongle, and so far, the connection has been rock-solid—no latency or missed key presses. I even snapped a few pictures of my desk setup. For context, I’m not a gamer; this keyboard is going to be my 9-to-5 workhorse for engineering tasks, CAD work, emails, and reports.
Just wanted to share my first impressions. Would love to hear your tips or thoughts if you’ve spent some time with this board!
https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-k10-qmk-via-wireless-mechanical-keyboard-version-2?variant=42058442965081 - RGB backlit, aluminum frame, hot-swappable variant.
Edit: Looks like the K4 Version 3 with QMK launches in literally a day. It's exactly what I was hoping for, having the same specs as the new K10, so I'm definitely getting that instead, which answers this post for me, but I'll leave it up in case any reviews and future discussion comes in.
Original: I'm in the market for a new keyboard. My Logitech G513 with clicky/GX Blue switches needs to go. I discovered the K4 and cancelled an order for the Cherry MX Board 3.0 S with Red Silent switches for now. The K4's beautifully compact yet nearly 100% layout, Mac symbols, hot-swappable switches, and RGB lighting with shine-through keycaps (legends, importantly) swayed me toward the K4 over other brands and Keychron offerings.
However, the K10 QMK v2 looks great. PBT, Cherry profile (no idea if I’ll prefer that), shine-through keycaps instead of OEM profile ABS keycaps. Keychron-branded super switches (supposedly Gateron-produced, though), sound-dampening foams, plate-mounted stabilizers, more keycap customization and hot-swap switch options due to its full size, and QMK firmware/web-app compatibility. It’d be nice if they made a K4 with similar specs.
My hesitancy is mainly due to the lack of reviews, nor an Amazon link or store availability, so the return policy is only 7 days through their site. I’ve also seen displeasure here in regard to Keychron’s keycap quality and Bluetooth issues/PCB quality, but I’m betting these new keycaps are better, and it’s surprising they’re not using Bluetooth 5.3, but I plan to use a wired connection anyway, though it would be nice if more of their boards supported 2.4 GHz wireless connections.
As for the Cherry keyboard, if I do go with a 100% layout, I like that it’s fully aluminum, including the base, with an optional aluminum wrist rest (of questionable comfort), and official Cherry switches with a Red Silent option. I hear Germany has high quality standards, and their keyboard is lower priced, but the K10 QMK v2 seems to have it beat in the other areas, macOS control software included. It’s a shame Keychron is one of the only companies with Mac symbols, an OS toggle switch, and an OS-agnostic web-based control software.
Trying to decide between K10 v2 and the K10 Pro. My main determinant right now: superior foam. Feel free to override with other suggestions which are around the same price point and are full-sized and include wired.
Holi! I know very little about the world of keyboards but my boyfriend is a huge enthusiast. I recently bought a keychron k10 HE for his birthday, but I read many negative reviews about the brand and model. Was it a good choice? He works as a programmer and spends many hours playing on his computer. We have never been able to afford a good keyboard and he talked a lot about this brand and the wood finish.
Thanks :)
Keychron K10 HE with foam removed and GPBT Gradiant Celestial Ice caps. Not sure what switches to use of if I should even bother replacing stock, as it seems every contactless switch is a linear...
Two days ago I was looking for a 100% ISO-ES keyboard to replace my dying 2014 Corsair K70 and I found out about the Keychron V6. It seemed nice and ordered it on Keychron web, but I just found out that the Keychron K10 Wireless is better in almost everyway (aluminium body, optional wireless and battery with 3 devices pairing, gateron switches, yet it lacks the knob) for basically the same price.
The V6 is already on its way, and it seems that if i return it they may deduct the shipping costs from the refund. Also, I would need to pay shipping again for the K10.
Would you "take the L" and stick with the V6 or swallow the pill and go the K10?
Thanks!
P.S. Also, I forgot to order the palm rest.
I have been thinking about a new full size keyboard but I dont know which one to get. I want one with the typical full size keyboard. What are your guys opinion?
Hey! I wanted to ask you guys about your opinions on the Keychron K10 Pro. I was thinking about getting a new keyboard for gaming and homeworking and wanted to hear your opinons - is the K10 Pro worth the money?
(Link if you need it)
I care about performance, being wireless and having a full layout. Is it good? Should i look for something else or save for a wooting ?
[REPOST as previous post was removed (maybe due to links?)]
I got the Keychron K10 Pro w/ Browns via AliExpress in late August 2023.
TL;DR: Fantastic keyboard! Recommend to swap out all stabs and/or re-lube them as they were over-lubed and janky for me. Tape Mod + Foam also recommended. Can only imagine how insane a Q Pro would be.
FIRST THOUGHTS
For those who don't know, this board is pretty heavy. Coming from a trusty Lenovo "mechanical feel", the heft is great. It's nice to be able to type away like it's a typewriter and get that solid feel.
As a daily driver, the board is amazing. I get good battery life from Bluetooth and it's easy enough to charge when needed. VIA makes it trivial to set up Macros which I needed. I personally think the keys are nice and I really love the top row. When I started to use it, I had a few nitpicks but now that some time has passed I have forgotten what they were so that's a plus point. I knew I was getting a board with South Facing LEDs so no issues for me but to a potential buyer, keep in mind South Facing LEDs result in a lack of shine through so with the lights off it's extremely difficult to make out the legends.
The one issue I do have is that the "Caps Lock" does not activate properly and the "Space Bar" is not fun to press at all. When I opened the board to mod, I noticed that the stabs have a lot of lube but they're still not performing that well (pic in link below). I don't have replacement stabs nor any good quality lube right now but I would suggest that anyone reading this either get better stabs or at the very least disassemble, re-lube and re-assemble the stabs - should hopefully improve the experience. As an example, I did try to modify the Caps Lock stabs and it's working better now.
As a side note, the included Keycap Puller is fine but the switch puller was cumbersome to use so I'd suggest getting a better one for that as well (the XVX keycaps came with one as well).
MODS
I really wanted to have some form of shine-through so I researched a lot to find a set that had the following:
-
Available on AliExpress
-
Side Print legends
-
Double Shot PBT w/ shine-through
-
Low price but not cheap in quality
I settled on a set from Womier Factory Store and chose OEM Black to play it safe. Took about 3 weeks to arrive and was packaged excellently. The keycaps are from "XVX" and they look and feel decent for the price. 100% satisfied w/ the purchase as long as you keep in mind the price.
I like the Gateron Browns but I am fond of the Clicky Blues so decided to order some switches in order to try out a seller and got Blues, Reds and Blacks. It says "Cherry MX" but the switches are "B-SUN" which is fine. This was my first experience w/ Blacks and though I prefer Tactiles, I think I prefer the Black ones to the Reds (decided to not use either of these but will keep them in case I change my mind). The 10 Blues I used for keys like "Space", "Esc", "Enter", etc. Unhinged? Perhaps but I like the C L I C K Y. All the other keys are still Browns.
NOTE: 1/10 Blues had bent pins, 9/10 Reds had bent pins and all Blacks were OK. [not a huge issue as I was able to easily unbend].
Finally, I applied 1 layer of Electrical Tape (would have liked to do 2 but I ran out). My Keychron box had a piece of foam which I cut and added as well. The result is decidedly noticeable. I didn't take any pictures of the mod itself and didn't record a proper before and after but the result is so much better that I highly recommend it. Sounds so much better now!
The end result is a board that sounds much better and keys that go surprisingly well with the original Keychron ones (I kept the top row and most of bottom row).
ADDENDUM:
This is my first mechanical keyboard so I'm not an expert. It's possible that to others the Gateron Brown keycaps might feel as low-quality and/or any other part of the build but for a first timer, I think this is a fantastic piece of work.
For the future, I plan to change the stabs and get a more high quality set of keycaps. I am also open to suggestions for different switches (preferably Tactile and ideally available on AliExpress).
Here is a Dropbox Link w/ Media.

Hello mates, kinda new to all this keyboard stuff.
Been a proud owner of logitech g910 for about 5 years now, but it is like my PC(gaming) keyboard mostly. Some of keycaps are broken, I've heard it is common problem. Looking for replacement, but can't get any.
I'm working from home for almost two years now, most of the time I use usual A4tech KV300H for my work, and a week ago an idea of getting proper keyboard for my work stuff made a cozy home in my head and I can not get it evicted.
Thing is - I live in Russia, and we don't have a lot of nice keyboards available here except for mainstream gaming keyboards of course. Also I'm looking for full-size, which pretty much narrows my available options. I've thought about TKL options, but I'm using numpad pretty much regularly and even didn't notice it before. I'm kinda not ready to ditch it. Yet.
It's a shame that i cannot order TKL keyboard with separate matching numpad for adequate price and appealing aesthetics.
So. After hours of research I've come to conclusion that "K10 gateron brown hotswap" is THE keyboard that i should order and that's why:
-
Full size ( I don't care much for saving deskspace, my desk is 2*0.8 meters)
-
Wireless (not necessary, but it is nice to have BT option)
-
In stock (so I won't wait months)
-
Hotswap (probably looking forward to change left shift and ctrl to lightest switch possible)
-
Reasonable price (In Russia it costs 30$ more compared to official site, still varmilo costs twice as much, and I'm kinda new to this expensive hobby)
-
It has a lot of positive reviews
But I still got some questions to ask, I'm sure that this great community will steer me in right direction.
So, here we go:
-
Hotswap. Am i Correct in my understanding, that i can purchase almost any cherry mx compatible switches and change them with no hustle?
-
Keycaps. Is it hard to find nice keycaps sets compatible with K10?
-
What mods should i consider right away?
-
I'm not sure that I'll need palm rest, but is this any good?
-
And last but not least. Any idea what other options I should explore?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I've explored wiki, used search a lot etc.
P.P.S. Sorry for my english
P.P.P.S. Drolling over pictures of KBD8X MKII paired with KBDPAD MKII. Want them in Pine Green. Maybe "next time baby" (hopefully somebody will get the reference). They kinda cost a LOT and also i need to wait a LOT if I order them and master up my soldering skills a LOT.
Ended up ordering K10.
Will check the necessity of wrist rest.
And I need new desk matt. Pity is my favourite Roccat left Russian market, so I've left with some extremely pricy options and extremely shitty ones. Will look for middle ground.
Hi there, 1)yes 2)no, just check if set is compatible with 104key keyboards 3)lube&film switches, plate foam 4)yes - you need palm rest for keychron keyboards. 5)check 1800 layout keyboards (eg. DROP shift)
I've just bought my first mechanical keyboard (the Keychron K10 Pro with brown switches) after years of using a cheap Logitech keyboard for Windows. The difference is amazing! I actually enjoy typing now.
Is there anything you guys would recommend doing first to get the most out of my keyboard? Any essential hardware related mods? Any firmware/software related changes like setting up certain macros, installing software? Any additional equipment, tools, etc. I should purchase?
