Hi guys, quick update. My K3 Max arrived yesterday. Thank you so much for the recommendation NOT to buy the K3v2. The Max is so much better. Way heavier, keys (PTB Double shoot), nice tap sound, great look and feel. Even the switches are “better” – the v2’s are also great, but they klick more smoothly. Only disappointment is the LED Backlight – it’s just not necessary and does not work verry well. So just get the K3 Max, epaxially because it’s just a few bucks more. Answer from Homwer on reddit.com

r/Keychron on Reddit: Keychron K3v2 or K3 Max?
August 30, 2024 -

Hi,

i need some advice. I’m looking for an office keyboard and got the K3v2 at home for gaming / office with the optical brown switches.
It’s a great keyboard and even survived a full cup of tea spilled over it.

So, I’m thinking about getting the K3v2 for my office job or – would it make sense to take the k3 Max?

I’ve read a lot about switches and keys – and heard some sound-tests on YT (Useless) but I’m wondering if some of you had to make the same discission, what the choose and if they are happy with their choice.

For my use case, office, I don’t need the Backlight, VIA for turning off keys or reconfiguration would be great but it’s not a must have.
1000mhz connection – I don’t care, will use a cable anyway.

Only important thing is the low profile keys :)

Best regards.

I was drawn to the K7's compact size, but I value having dedicated media keys. The trade-off in terms of size was more than acceptable, so ultimately, I chose the K3 Max with RGB lights and hot-swappable red switches.

Keychron K3 Max UK ISO Reviewed - Gadgetoid Gadgetoid
July 14, 2024 - The K3 Max is very much for muchness to the K3 Pro. I opted for a UK ISO version with red switches to give myself the most differentiators to write about. That leaves me with not an awful lot of new things to say, so you should definitely read my K3 Pro review first. The TLDR is that I like Keychron’s low profile, eminently portable keyboards – ever since I bought the K7 to use with my Steam Deck – and the K3 Max is no exception.

r/keyboards on Reddit: Choosing between Keychron K3 V3, K3 Max, and Nuphy Air75 V3 – need adv
August 13, 2025 -

Hey everyone,

I’m a bit lost and could use some advice. I’m looking for a low-profile wireless keyboard and I’m deciding between three models: Keychron K3 V3, Keychron K3 Max, and Nuphy Air75 V3.

I want something comfortable for long typing sessions, as quiet as possible, and well-built. QMK/VIA compatibility for remapping would be a plus, but it’s not a dealbreaker.

I’m wondering if the K3 Max is really worth it compared to the K3 V3, and how all three compare to the Nuphy Air75 in terms of comfort, noise, and sturdiness.

If you’ve tried any of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts, especially about comfort over long use and everyday noise levels.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I expect the NuPhy Air V3 with the blush switches will be the most silent of the ones you mentioned. You could also consider the Lofree Flow Lite. I believe this is a slightly cheaper board comparatively, and if you pair it with their silent switch "Hades", you're in for a very silent treat. [This message was typed on a Lofree Flow Lite with Hades Switches, and tbh the people sitting close to me in my shared office space, would most likely not have been able to hear me typing] My only gripes with the Lofree Flow Lite is that it has a plastic chassis (instead of Alu) and a wierdly large top bezel. Personally, I'm a bit hyped about the NuPhy Air75 V3 currently, and would consider purchasing it, if I was in the market for a new low profile keeb.

I have both a Keychron K3 V3 and a Nuphy Air75 V3. Keychron K3 V3 pros: - shine-through keycaps (with very visible legends when backlighting is off during daytime) - good quality foams inside which result in good key sounds when pressed - very fast wake-up time from sleeping mode when using Bluetooth - can be easily opened if you're into modding or want to repair the keyboard yourself - good customer support - big variety of compatible low-profile switches on the market - QMK compatibility Keychron K3 V3 cons: - battery still on the small side - especially if you want to run with RBG lights enabled - no 2.4GHz connection (Bluetooth is very underwhelming if you want to use it while playing any "fast-paced" games) - RBG diodes are pretty dim during daylight (and you don't see any backlighting between the keycaps even at night) - EXTREMELY rattly/reverb sounding spacebar stabilizer which kind of made me stop using the board (maybe it is a "skil issue", but I even tried opening up the board, re-lubing stabilizer housings, straightening the wire and applying some band-aid mods in couple places - nothing helped) - weird spherical-angled keycap shape (though this is highly subjective) - stock Milk POM switches leave a lot to be desired (I went with banana switches and they weren't factory lubed at all which lead them to be EXTREMELY scratchy/screechy when pressed - it was very audible) - no separate indicator lights/sidelights for caps lock or battery level - dubious QC - I had to open up the keyboard and trim the sound damping foam near the stabilizers since a part of it came in contact with a couple stabilizers stems which caused them to be very mushy when pressed (Rest of the content is below in a reply since reddit doesn't allow long-ass comments)

r/Keychron on Reddit: Keychron K3 V3 or Keychron K3 Max?
July 28, 2025 -

Hello! I am seeking for an advice from advanced users of keychron low-profile keyboards.

I want to purchase my first own mechanical keyboard. Sadly, in my region only Keychron K3 V3 and Keychron K3 Max are available (from K3 series). And even their variations (e.g. RGB, hot-swappability) aren't common in my shops, so mostly only K3X-A and K3M-A are present for an adequate price (with average price of 85-90 euros).

My main goal to purchase a robust, minimalistic, quiet, wireless, 75% layout keyboard, with a price not higher than 100 euros. That's why I went in love with Keychron K3.

There couldn't be much of a question, but:

  1. I am not sure on quietness of each of the keyboards. Are the red switches really that quiet? If anybody have tried to search for a quiet switches and used those red ones on the Keychron K3's, then I would like to hear Your experience.

  2. If they are not that quiet, then is it actually a deal to invest more money and purchase a hot-swappable keyboard version of those? So in close future just to change the switches on a special quiet ones, which are available on the moment.

  3. And if it is actually a thing to purchase a hot-swappable version, then should I choose a K3X-H1 for its Keychron swithes, or K3M-H1 for its Gateron switches?

OR, I should just keep it easy and go with K3X-A1 and it will be decent for my first-time experience until a new keyboard will come out and I could invest more money into it?

I am not sure if I like any competitors of the K3 V3/Max, like NuPhy Air75 or Epomaker Luma84 just for their more gamer-like design, but if You have a really good experience of using these three keyboards and you could really have a huge dealbreaker in favor of either NuPhy or Epomaker, then I would really like to hear that advice :)

P.S I think I will be fine with the Keychron K3 V3's bluetooth+wire connection variations only, so it is not a big issue for me. It's all just a question of the quietness and overall experience of using K3 keyboards...

Re "I think I will be fine with the Keychron K3 V3 's Bluetooth + wire connection variations only": Just be prepared that it may not work out of the box (a lot depends on the computer side, not only the keyboard). But it is possible to make it work perfectly . You may have to spend money on extra hardware. And/or configure, install, or upgrade software.

Im using the Keychron K3 Max Brown Switches RGB Hotswabble. Prior to making my purchase, I have tried both red and brown switches and I feel they dont really differ that much in terms of sound. Both are really quiet compared to traditional mechanical keyboards. You really have to try them out yourself to see if you like it. It also depends on your use case. If you are using it in a library then of cause they are going to sound loud as compared to using this in a Star Bucks. The Keychron K3 Max keyboard is already quite silent. I purchased the hot swabbable version because it was the only variant that was available on sale. But that also means that if one of the switches becomes faulty, I would have the option of just changing one switch instead of having to purchase another keyboard in the future. Unlike the K3 Pro, the K3 Max has the 2.4 GHz dongle with 1000 Hz polling rate, but this doesnt really mean much to me since Im not a competitive gamer. As im typing this post on the K3 Max using only bluetooth connection with 90 Hz polling rate, there is barely any latency between pressing each key and seeing the letters appear on screen. So im going to say that for your average every day user, there is not going to be a noticable difference. If you really need the 1000Hz polling rate, the K3 Pro also has that functionality - Just use it on wired connection instead. Ive considered the Nuphy Air 75 as well. But personally, i dont really like the creamy claky sound of the Nuphy. This was the dealbreaker for me. The K3 Mx is also borderless, which means the trapped dust can easily be expelled if you use an air pump to clean the keyboard. Whereas the Nuphy comes with a bracket that encloses the keycaps, and so everything is just trapped underneath and you really have to remove the keycaps in order to clean underneath. Being borderless also makes the K3 Max smaller than the Air 75, while keeping the same functionality of a 75% keyboard. Aesthetically, i feel the K3 Max also looks more professional. I mean, Apple even uses it in their advertisements. One big advantage that the Air 75 has over the K3 Max is its battery life. So if you really have to have RGB turned on all the time and you are also always on the go with minimal access to charging ports, then this may be a dealbreaker for you.
