Hello,
I had Q4 before and I quite liked the keycaps on it. After that I got Q1 Pro as it has BT. But the KSA keycaps are trash for me. I don't like them.
Currenty I am looking at OEM Dye-Sub PBT Full Set Keycap Set - Developer.
But maybe there are better alternatives, not even from Keychron. As these cost 50e + Shipping.
Keycap Profiles
Hi guys, forgive me if this is a dumb question- I'm totally new to keyboards. Are the Keychrons boards only compatible with Keychron caps or can i purchase caps from other companies to fit onto the Q1? If so, what type of caps should I look out for? I'm looking for something matte black and sleek.
Nope, caps on there are pretty universal - you can swap in pretty much whatever.
Keychron, like most custom board makers, use so-called "Cherry" compatible caps, meaning you can choose from a large variety of third-party caps and profiles. Take care with "low profile" boards, though, some caps might be too high.

hello, I am kinda on a budget and looking to play around with the keycaps on my keychron Q1. Can anyone suggest me any cool keycap sets in stock from amazon. Also for the future purchase how do i know if a certain keycap set fits my Q1. Also i have ordered some akko rose reds to mod out the phantom browns that are gonna come with the keyboard, will there be any key cap issues there? Thank you in advance

Check out https://thocstock.com/ for lots of cool keycap options besides just Amazon.

Keychron Q1 has a pretty standard layout and should support most base kits for keycaps. It shouldn't really be a challenge to find compatible sets.
edit: cool keyscaps are entirely a matter of your own taste :) go nuts dude and enjoy the hobby

Ive been looking to buy a q1 but have no idea whether or not the keycaps i buy will fit, im looking to buy keycaps that will not rub onto the frame
Hello, please recommend backlighted keycaps for Keychron Q1. Thanks
I ordered these off Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09MY45FDF/
They and sound much cheaper than what came stock on the keychron Q1. The keychon q1 keycaps feel nice, have a glossy solid surface, and the sound is more bassy and steady. The momo key caps sound resonant, almost like they're pingy. I modded my keychron q1 with dampener foam on the bottom and did the tape mod, so that pingy noise is not from the aluminum and as I said the q1 keycaps sound fantastic.
I guess what I"m asking is, where can I get higher quality keycaps than keychron q1? What brand besides GMK (I do not want to spend 150 for plastic...)
Dissappointed in these momo keycaps. The space bar especially sounds atrocious.
hi all!
I pledged for the US assembled Q1 pro on kickstarter, because for 20$, you get a full set of switches and keycaps. However, what I would really want is the ISO barebone, to get nice switches (WS silent linear) and what I would LOVE: A UK iso keycap set, MA profile, centred letters and mac function keys. I found the IDOBAO MA Profile Blue that almost fit the bill, but no mac function key. Anyone know of a set like that? shine through would be nice but not essential
I decided to jump head first into mechanical keyboards. As such, I bought the Q1 Pro and overall I really like it.
However, I am coming from a magic keyboard which is very low profile. After 2 weeks of use, I am finding myself making an occasional typing error, but also noticing that the travel distance for my fingers is becoming a bit tiresome.
Are their any keycaps you might recommend I look into that have a lower profile that will work with this keyboard? I feel like it would make my experience better and overall satisfaction much greater too.
Thanks!
Will these Keycaps: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1228773485/wood-keycap-for-mechanical-keyboard?ref=cart work on a Keychron Q1 Version 1 with K Pro Switches? It says OEM Keycaps, while the ones on my Q1 are OSA.
I would like to replace the spacebar, arrow keys and pgup, dn and home keycaps.
If they work which OEM Height should I use to replace pgup, dn and home keycaps on my existing keyboard?
I believe OEM is what I use now... Yes, OEM will work on the Q1.
Just make sure the spacebar is sized correctly. Q1 uses 6.25u
OEM profile keycaps are the same height and have the same per-row angles as Keychron's OSA keycaps, but the finger cups on the key tops are different in shape. So while the spacebar might not be any different (since there's no finger cup anyway), something like an alpha key, number row key, F-row or navigational key might feel a little different. But at least the heights will match on a per-row basis.
There's a big difference, however, between the key height of OEM & OSA as compared to Cherry profile. Enough so that I wouldn't want to combine Cherry with other (OEM/OSA) keycaps.
** However, be aware that the Q1 version 1 originally shipped with OEM profile keycaps. It wasn't until the Q1 version 2 that Keychron started shipping the OSA keycaps. So if you're truly using a Q1v1 with the original factory keycaps, you're using OEM profile most likely and not Keychron's OSA profile.
Hi guys, I really want to have a custom keyboard which is hotswappable, has RGB and uses ISO-Layout. So I decided for the Keychron Q1 (didn't bought it yet).
The problem I am confronted with now is that the Keychron Q1 uses Southfaced RGB while the only fitting ISO-Shinethrough-Keycaps (yes I want to have backlit letters) I found have their letters on the top (northfaced). Since I want to use Aqua/Water King Switches, which are transparent, I am not sure if this is a problem.
Does anyone here has the Keychron Q1 at home currently (or any other Sourthfaced-RGB-Keyboard) and uses shinethrough-keycaps which are lettered on top? I wanna know, if the lightning of those keycaps is really that bad.
I really hope for some constructive answers, since I am really struggling now whether to buy a Southfaced-Keyboard or not (almost every custom keyboard seems to be Southfaced).
Edit: It doesnt matter for me, if you really USE shinethrough keycaps on your Q1. But if you have a Q1 (or a similar northfaced Keychron-Product) and at least ONE shinethrough-keycap at home, it would me great to get a picture so I get an idea!
I am new to Reddit and mechanical keyboards, so any feedback regarding this post or desired keyboard setup is highly appreciated.
I bought the Keychron Q1 barebone ISO keyboard, but I'm struggling to find UK keycaps to my taste (I'm not too fond of the Keychron's three ISO keycap sets):
Preferably white, but can settle for black
PBT
Double shot
Backlit
NOT pudding
Although many UK ISO keycaps fit my criteria, the Keychron Q1 ISO keyboard has three 1u keys to the right of the space bar instead of the standard four 1.25u keys, as highlighted in the two images below.
Keychron Q1 ISO Layout Keychron Q1 ANSI Keycap SizesAfter scouring the internet, I have only found two keycap sets that closely meet my requirements:
Glorious PC Gaming Race GPBT Keycaps - 115 PBT keycaps, ISO, UK layout, Arctic White
ARTIFACT BLOOM SERIES KEYCAP SET: BLACK ON WHITE (UK ISO add-on kit out of stock)
Neither of these is backlit, so before I spend money on keycaps that aren't exactly to my taste, I wanted to check that there aren't other options that I've missed.
Hello, I have recently bought a Keychron Q1 keyboard, I have also bought a keycap set from Keychron as this is my first "custom" mechanical keyboard. I know almost nothing about keycaps but I am looking something that would last and now break.
That being said, I am also aware that these keycaps are not of the best quality, I have seen multiple times these keycaps breaking and I would like to avoid that if possible, so I am looking to buy a an aftermarket keycap set that would be in this theme:
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61SyxI6k40L._AC_SL1500_.jpg
So looking for a white and black keycap set that would also include japanese legends, something that wouldn't break and that it is available to purchase in EU.

I got a Keychron Q1V1 in Shell White and to my surprise when I turned on the backlight the letters got illuminated too. That's actually something I really like but I am surprised because every review I've seen doesn't have them. Anyone knows what's going on?
EDIT: forgot to mention: I bought it from a commercial reseller but it was new and sealed.
I have got Keychron Q1 V2 Black barebone version for my Mac Studio. I am a programmer and newbie to custom keyboard world. I will like to have suggestions on the switches that will be best for Q1 V2 and also some suggestions on keycaps that I should look for with links of the sites. I will like to get silent and factory lubed, smooth switches. Please help this newbie out to have best typing experience 🙏 ❤️
This is the Keychron Q1 Max 75%; changed the stock gateron jupiter brown switches, which are Ok but Meh, to Akko Creamy Purple Pro V3 and got myself some KDA dye-sub keycaps "Pixel Universe" from Keytok, bought at FinalKeys, its superb, im particularly loving the KDA profile, feels like it was made for me, super comfy and ergonomic, its like a mix between MDA, sweet to the touch, and Cherry which are widely accepted as one of the most ergonomic profiles. Please correct me if i'm wrong. I also did a tape mod which gives it an extra oomph.
All in all i love how the keeb turned out. If anyone has recommendations on other uncommon but nice key profiles to try out im all ears (or eyes?)
HOWEVER......... This is the fifth time I've had to solder the contact points (or whatever their actual name is) of a random key because it wasn't done right from the factory and the key stopped working. I know this has already been documented and even keychron published something about it. Still its a shame! It brings the keyboard from a solid 9/10 to a 1/10. I would not recommend these keyboards to anyone just because of that, unless you are willing to constantly solder random keys just because, specially after you change switches.
Does anyone know nice Keycaps for DE-ISO Layout (75%)?
Hello guys,
I am interested into this keyboard and wanted to know what type of keycaps is possible to put on it? Where should I look into to know if exact keycaps will be possible to use with it?
I'm interested in the Q1 Knob but would like the dual-tone gray and black PBT doubleshot keycaps that are included on all of the upcoming Q-series models. According to Keychron support, there is no plan to offer the PBT keycaps on the Q1 Knob.
Are my only options really to spend $60 on two additional Keychron PBT doubleshot keycap sets, or get a different Q model? Any other ideas?
