Can't upgrade firmware (V1)
Re "full upgrade steps my keyboard's LEDs reset (don't know if that's supposed to happen)": Yes, that is supposed to happen as all configuration settings are reset as part of the flashing process. That includes the default RGB animation, the LED brightness, the Via macros, the Via keymappings, the NKRO setting, etc. Even putting the keyboard into bootloader mode causes it (it is a side effect that can used to do just that, reset to factory defaults, for example, when holding Fn + J + Z for four seconds does not work). Re "and the firmware version stays the same": I think Keychron messed up their secret build process in the move to the Via clone ('Keychron Launcher'), so the USB-side version number is as in the official source code , "1.0.0.". So the actual firmware version may be correct, but USB-side it shows the wrong version number. Or in other words, maybe it can be ignored. The USB-side firmware version from this page may or may not be different from "1.0.0". More on reddit.com

Hi, I just got my V1 and I tried to tinker with the software a bit. I tried to do that on Linux but since that didn't really work I tried on Windows. Everything went great until I tried to upgrade the firmware. I'm currently on version 1.0.7 and the latest is 1.7.1. When I do the full upgrade steps my keyboard's LEDs reset (don't know if that's supposed to happen) and the firmware version stays the same, like I never upgraded it at all. Do I have to contact support? Thanks

Re "do the full upgrade steps": What does that refer to? Using Keychron's Via clone ? Or compiling from source code (and flashing the result)? Or something else? For the latter, the USB-side version in the official source code is always "1.0.0". For some reason, Keychron has chosen to keep the actual firmware version out of the source code and instead have the actual version number in their secret build system (and versions aren't tagged in the version control system either, making it impossible to reproduce the official firmware). You can (and should) change the USB-side version number to make it easier to identify what firmware version is actually on the keyboard. The secret build system also somehow enables holding Fn + J + Z for four seconds for resetting to factory defaults (not working (nothing happens) when using the firmware from compiling the official source code as it).

I posted on the support thread but didn't receive any response, so i'm going to post it here to show the error.
When i try to update (or check the firmware) on my V1 Max through the launcher.keychron.com website, i get the following error.

The keyboard is connected to the app, this error shows when i click on the orange "Connect" button.
Tried different ways but it always shows the same, as you can se ein the image, the keyboard connects correctly but the "Firmware Update" part doesn't work at all.
I can acess the "Wireless Firmware" part and it shows correctly, but not the "Firmware Update".
Edit.:
Received a response from Support: "I have confirmed it with my team. The firmware should be uploaded around next week. No worries. "
So the problem must be fixed soon.

"the support thread" may refer to: Ask u/Keychron-Support anything about Keychron . 2024-04-10. I think it was only monitored for a maximum of two weeks. Or it may refer to something else. There is also: Reddit support 3.0 2021-08-22. 140 comments. It doesn't seem to be monitored either. It is probably necessary to use " u/Keychron-Support " in comments to get their attention.
