Are you going to rent a car? If relying on public transit, the Indigo is a better location since the light rail runs from the airport to Union Station. There’s also more bars and restaurants nearby. The Kimpton is nice but it’s at the other end of the 16th Street Mall (which is currently torn up) and doesn’t have much going on around it. More on reddit.com

To add to the 'Kimpton is awesome' lore, we stayed at a Kimpton while we were in Dallas for a wedding. In addition to being an awesome hotel and having a great wine/beer/sangria hour, they were fantastically pet friendly (and didn't even charge a fee). This is what was sitting in the lobby when we showed up And this is what we found in the room Somewhat small things but this is obviously a great company that goes out of it's way to please their customers. I was there last week. Hannah at the front desk was phenomenal, she really goes above and beyond. Remember the social password. A guitarist performed during a wine social (not everyday, but on a Wednesday) and he was great and we were sad to not see him other nights of our stay. More on reddit.com
