Costco's Kirkland Signature 10.0 Hearing Aid — KS10 Any feedback?
Any reason NOT to use Costco?
I am due another set of hearing aids. I upgraded my insurance in anticipation of needing them. My maximum out-of-pocket is $3500, but insurance probably has some way around that.
I recently found out that Kirkland has the same hearing aid as the Phonak Audeo Marvel P90.
Should I just get the Kirkland hearing aid instead? It's a lot cheaper. My audiologist wants something like $5000 or $6000 for what I can get for something like $1400 with the Kirkland version.
What features would I be giving up?
I'm curious about everyone's experiences with the longevity of their Kirkland Signature 10 hearing aids from Costco. The TL;DR is that I'm having charging issues after two and half years of use, and I'm wondering is that's a reasonable lifespan for hearing aids, and if so, what I should move on to next.
I've got moderate bilateral conductive loss from otosclerosis, and was fitted for my KS10s at my local US Costco, in March of 2022. They're my first HAs and they've been honestly life changing for me. Unfortunately, I've been having a lot of charging issues with them in the last six months. I brought them in to my local Costco over the summer, and they did a firmware update, I also had them confirm that the charger was working. That helped for a while, but now I'm back to waking up to at least one full dead HA at least once a week, sometimes more. Today the primary one looked dead for about two hours, but finally started to charge on its own eventually. Waking up to dead hearing aids is inconvenient, to say the least. I was hoping to get at least three full years out of my investment.
Is it worth is to upgrade right now? Is there anything promising on the horizon that I should hold out for? And should I limp along with my KS10s for a while and wait for that better tech? I'm looking at going back to Costco for my next pair, but I'm not completely opposed to switching to a private audiologist if there's a better alternative.
