Has anyone bought (or know anything about) the Kirkland 5-ply cookware($279)?

Is it any good (they are certainly heavy, wondering if the base, though, is thick enough for even heating)? Thinking about it vs the Allclad D3 which is only online (and for 799, more than twice the price, though a couple more pieces), while the Kirkland is only in store it seems. Wirecutter calls the D3 their upgrade pick, but says that some may find the 3-ply construction "whines" when used on induction cooktops. How about 5-ply?

While they are nice, I contemplated buying this set for a long time, but the abundance of negative reviews made me decide on All Clad instead. While All Clad may be prohibitively expensive for most, this Kirkland set may be a good introduction for someone who has never used Stainless/copper before. Most of the negative reviews are pertaining to warping. Some warp right out of the box, some warp months later. Some of these cases are definitely due to user error. If you are going to buy any piece of clad stainless in the future, make sure to go easy on the heat, and don't quench them in cold water when they are still warm. All Clad is more of a long term investment, where as these are a cheap Chinese made lookalike. Some people may be perfectly happy with that, but I won't ever go back to anything beyond All Clad for stainless. Good luck, and I hope you are happy with the decision you make.

I bought a stainless steel 18 piece set from Costco in 2005. It was a different supplier, from Italy, for under $200. We have been very happy. It has a tri-ply base which is required for our induction cooktop. Aluminum cookware would not work. Yes, it can stick a little bit on occasion depending on what we cook, but all the pieces fit in our Miele dishwasher, and that's how we wash them.

Only two of the pots really are (the sauté pan with lid, and the large sauce pot but both of them have a second handle on the opposite side of the regular handle) the rest of them are not so heavy considering the material and quality. These are very solid pieces. I don't know what is sold in the Costco stores anymore since the ones shown on their website didn't appear to have any Copper in them but the ones that I bought have Copper in them as well as Stainless steel.
