Both brands want you to remain loyal to their brand… I’ve had customer service reps send free new faucets if a problem couldn’t be fixed on new installs. Both brands are easy to get parts for at any home improvement store (if you like need the part ASAP and can’t wait for the company to send it to you). Delta’s are easy to work on. Moen is built a little bit more solid (not by much) and they can be channeling to remove the cartridges out of (but Moen makes a tool for that). Kohler all the way but it directly from Kohler not a home Depot or Lowe's these products are made 2 different ways for big box stores and for the company themselves the better one you get are from the manufacturer itself . Big box stores products are made cheaper to appease the typical homeowner who wants to spend less .

Maybe Moen or Delta? Don't go with Waltec because at the factory they have 4 soldered joints each one making contact with 1/8 of an inch. Sometimes the solder never even got full coverage from the factory. I know because i've taken many of them apart.

In the process of fixing a leak in our hot water supply to our kitchen sink mixer, I have to pull the gooseneck mixer (faucet) but the underside is rusted enough I’m sure I’ll do irreparable damage taking it out. Pretty surprising to even see rust in a piece of hardware intended for wet applications. It was probably installed ~12 years ago before we owned the place, which seems like a short life. Don’t know the brand.
Seeing how equivalent faucets seem to be anything from $300 - sky is the limit, are there any brands to avoid, or reliable mid-range brands. Any argument for splashing out on something European? Any argument against something from Mitre 10?

Stay away from cheap imports, they usually offer really good warranties but unless you want to go through the hassle of removing it to return it if it breaks I wouldn't bother with them. Box store brands like Aquatica, Felton, Foreno, Methven have some good stuff under their main brand and a local support network but some of these companies offer chain specific sub-brands that focus more on entry level product and may not always be up to the same standards in terms of build quality. European brands like Groghe and Hansgrohe tend to live up to their hype but they are pricey. Have a look at importing yourself if you do decide to go down this route rather than buying locally. You'll save considerably.

I've had problems with an Aquatica mixer tap in my kitchen. I've had to replace the cartridge 3 times in the last 6 years, and I had to replace the cartridge in the laundry one as well. But, who knows, it may be an issue with something else that keeps making them fail
