Okay, I got my first estimate for a 30kw Kohler generator with installation. Literally almost fell off my chair when I opened it. The entire quote came in at a little over $41,000. This included 2 ATS with 200Amp with No Load Center ($3636), one 30kw Kohler generator with battery & pad ($28,624!!!!. Thought they retailed for around $15k, maybe this fee includes some set up costs??), gas line total 25 ft ($4330), lift equipment ($1,976), concrete pad work ($2,187) and trench work ($607). Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury to place the generator near the gas meter/electric meter because of nearby windows so I decided to route the placement to sit in front of our fireplace about 25ft away from the meters.

Okay, people what do you all think? Is this quote excessively high or does it seem legit? I was originally thinking it would come in all total at around $28 - $30k with product and install. I live in an affluent suburb outside of Memphis, TN. This quote came from a platinum Kohler dealer I do have another reputable Kohler titanium dealer coming out on Friday to provide a 2nd estimate. Gosh, I sure hope it doesn't come out around the same number.
