I just had mine done yesterday. They removed the tub, raised my ceiling, raised the floor 2inches and a few other things. They did a great job. I went with Home Forever Baths. My original quote was like 14k. But I worked them down to 11k. lol Cash is kink. lol It's still pricy but they were done in 1.25 days. They cleaned up well and did an outstanding job. As a friend once told me, "Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten". I think he stole the Gucci. lmao

Look into Swanstone or Transolid. Both are considered solid surface like Luxstone without the crazy markup. I've got both installed in the last two years - Swanstone is higher end but both are solid choices. More on reddit.com

We had it installed and it was done in a day. However cleaning is a pain. The seams are so tight that you can scrub. You need to completely wipe down the shower as Koehler recommends after each use. More on reddit.com

I am considering purchasing a Kohler Luxstone Shower system and am just trying to guage whether or not the price quote I received was reasonable. I am no general contractor or anything, but it seems to me that almost 17K for a simple walk in shower 48x34 in size seems a bit excessive. Does anyone else have any experience with this type of work or brand? If so, what did it cost you?

Did you get that quote from Home Depot ? 😂 That what they told me when I contacted their contractor to do an estimate on master bathroom renovation.17 K for walk in shower. Not including bathtub or vanity or anything else. It is definitely unreasonable for me considering the cost of my house .

A product a contractor brought up was Luxstone from Kohler. Or a similar product from BCI Acrylics. They wanted crazy money though. The Luxstone with a colored finish was $15,100. Solid finish was $13,500. This included a tub and install. The BCI was around $11,000 for only a 60x30 tub and shower surround.
Hard to find pricing on the Luxstone, but from what I can see its around $1,800 and everything else I can get for $2,200.
$11,000 for 2 workers for 2 days sounds expensive.

You won't be able to get the LuxStone without going thru an authorized Kohler dealer/installer, iirc. The pricing is actually great for what you're getting. Lifetime warranty on parts and service, all Kohler products installed by non-3rd parties who actually learn how to install the way the manufacturer wants it installed. It's price (cheaper today) vs cost (peace of mind against headaches in the long run)
