The 30% off if you spend over $10k on cabinets has been going on for over a year at Home Depot and lowes. Every time it “ends” it just starts back up again. We had the same sale 6 years ago too when we got cabinets into our old house. Their install prices aren’t bad though because if they do the install you don’t have to pay taxes on the cabinets, so it almost cancels itself out. You should have them quote you at least because it might be worth it. Last time we had Lowes do our install and they did so much better than the private guy we hired this time and they take care of going back and forth with Lowes for the damaged cabinets. They will also put on the handles included in the price as long as you have them at the time of install (at least they did before, not sure if it’s changed). We’re in the design phase for a pretty large kitchen remodel. My kitchen is definitely on the large side, and we will need all new cabinetry with a 10 foot island, a wetbar and cabinets for the affixed laundry room. We’re not going top of the line - kraftmaid line. I am working with their designer. I was expecting $30-35k tops and just got the estimate at a whopping $60k! Does this seem crazy or am I just delusional?

Semi-custom Kraftmaid Vantage from an independent dealer? Not insane. Kraftmaid from a big box store? Big time insane. Seriously though, we were gobsmacked by prices for everything, not just cabinets. Our kitchen cost twice what we had budgeted. In fact, prices easily doubled between 2020 and 2025. I have Kraftmaid Vantage maple stained cabinets, and they are beautiful. Although I have a medium-sized kitchen, I got lots of customization. My KD was fantastic. Errors were corrected immediately at no charge. Customer service was top notch. Cost was $28k after 10% discount in January.

Keep shopping around. I had the same reaction when I started getting quotes for our remodel. I just assumed full custom was out of our price range, so started looking at big box stores and even RTA cabinets. The initial quotes I got were completely ridiculous. To my surprise I ended up finding the best price through a local carpenter/cabinet maker. Ended up ordering full custom inset cabs and a walnut island for less than I was quoted for RTA cabinets online! If you have any Amish cabinet makers in the area that may also be a good place to look. They’re usually cheap and always a quality product. But in the end if you go with a big box store or a design/build style kitchen remodel place expect a big markup.

In a word, yes. We bought our small bungalow about 12 years ago. The previous owner had redone the cabinets w Kraftmade cabinets from Home Depot. I only found this out cuz there was a label stapled inside someplace. I used the included specs to color and style match some additional cabs during our remodel. It was a super easy process. And now that our new cabinets have had a few years of air exposure, they all look identical.

Mine are almost 20 years old. We had the two basket trashcan mechanical rack go about three years ago. Called the HD we purchased from, they help on the call to kraftmade. New unit arrived in 2 weeks, took about an hour to install. If you have them demo and install they probably won’t cut a break on labor. They do have sales on cabinets at times. Usually it’s something like buy four cabinets and get the sink cabinet free or a 10% off.

We used to be a Kraftmaid Dealer and dropped them because they were too expensive for our customers. They are good cabinets but the price is closer to custom pricing than semi-custom.

Good quality cabinets. Defects and issues are rare. But as an installer, they're not the easiest. I can't quite put my finger on it. It's always an extra puzzle. I guess the point I'm making is make sure your installer is good. Or at least familiar with Kraftmaid.
