Where do you plan to eat? I don't think it's wrong to add a large sectional. Bigger furniture in smaller spaces can make the place look bigger and more inviting. People assume smaller furniture is better for smaller spaces, but it actually ends up looking cheap and stupid. You can add curtains if there is glare when you want to watch TV. I would consider what other furniture you plan on adding to the space before getting the sofa though. How much space will you need if the sofa is going to take up most of the space. If you want a kitchen island to double as dining, then I would also go much longer on that (at least seat two people on either side). Go big or go home. More on reddit.com

If I were you, the first thing I would do is buy some nice throw pillows in colors you are attracted to. I just bought my mom some nice ones from crate and barrel. Then use those colors to dictate the color of the rug you buy. Go from there. Also apps like Pinterest and Instagram are good sources of inspiration, even Architectural Digest. Don’t forget plants.
