Hi, I’m making my desk because my current one is a a shitty thin L desk from amazon where everything is connected by sliding plastic joints. I’m in a media program and need a decent amount of room for all my computer stuff and the current one I have isn’t cutting it. I’m following this hack I found as a guide:
https://ikeahackers.net/2015/07/ikea-linnmon-mega-corner-desk.html
Then i’m going to use 2 of these table tops:
https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/lagkapten-tabletop-black-brown-80487016/
and then 6 of the black ADILS legs. My question is, where exactly would i drill into to attach the bottom support frame underneath? I know that it’s paper fill and there is some form of board that si can drill into, but I’m not sure where that might be. Any advice to make this nice and sturdy would be awesome. Thanks!

Hi, I’m looking to combine the lagkapten / Alex combo and push it up to a linnmon with adils legs to creat an L shaped work area... I was wondering if anyone had any experience with creating this look or if you know whether or not it will work. If it won’t work, is there something you can suggest I use instead? My nearest IKEA is about 5-6 hours away so I’m having to order online and would like to get opinions/advice before buying. TIA
Sooo, recently I decided to DIY my room including flooring/painting and bought x2 lagkapten with alex drawers and adil legs for a L shaped corner setup. I’ll probably add some wall shelves, pegboard, maybe even rgb lights, MORE LEGOS, lego minifigure wall cabinet, etc etc.
I’ll probably get a rug underneath my chair as well so it doesn’t scratch or break the flooring :(
Hey everyone, I had an idea for a simple desk setup that I wanted to try with a couple of Lagkapten desks but I do not know if it is possible. Excuse the crude MS Paint image.
I basically want to take two Lagkapten desks and join them together in an L configuration. I wan to use a metal plate to join the desks together to keep them from moving apart and to free up space underneath so that a leg will not be needed there. I also want to drill holes for grommets to feed cables through, and also a couple of monitor arms clamped to the desks (the blue squares).
My concern is in the basic construction of the Lagkapten. The brown area is compresed particle board which is pretty strong but the yellow area is the paper honeycomb area that is mostly air. The metal plate joining the two desks would essentially be drilling into the paper honeycomb area of one desk. The monitor arm mounts that would clam into the desk would also be clamping into this area and exerting a fair amount of pressure.
Do you think the Lagkapten would be able to handle this or should I try to find another table top made with a more solid material?
