A screen protector will not damage the screen, and it should not leave any stick residue when removed. There are basically two type of screen protectors; "clear coat" screen protector who's only function is to protect the screen from possible scratches, and an anti-glare screen protector which more or less attempts to reduce the light reflections. "Clear Coat" will have the least affect on clarity while anti-glare does cause a very slight amount of blurriness because it's main goal is to diffuse light reflecting off of the screen. It is the diffusion of light that creates the slight blurriness. Applying a screen protector can be extremely frustrating because you need to be very careful to avoid air bubbles and ensure you wipe off all dust from the screen. Tiny particles of dust can create air bubbles. I tried applying a screen protector to a laptop back in 2011... It was more trouble than its worth. No amount of cleaning was enough to remove all dust particles. Even if it was clean dust in the air can land on the screen itself. Also, regardless of how careful i was to place the protector on the screen I ended up with air bubbles. Perhaps if I have a few screen protectors to practice with I would eventually get it right... In the end I ultimately removed the screen protector because the air bubbles were simply too distracting. More on reddit.com
