Ideas of what to do with large side yard.
My dream with a spare yard is a dope ass garden

I have the rear of my house/yard fenced for the kids and dog to run around in, but with how expensive fencing was we only fenced directly behind the house, maybe 1/3 of an acre. We have about another 1/3-1/2 acre off to the side of our house (on a corner) that has the driveway, and a gazebo (that we never use) in it. Looking for ways to make use of this space that I possibly haven't thought of... If anyone has ideas.
So far I am thinking of adding a detached garage, but it is expensive...
Also thought about fencing it too, but also expensive plus is questionable if zoning would allow it at the height I would want since it is a side yard with road frontage, and not the backyard.
I would like to utilize this land in some way, and not just have it and mow it for no reason, but not really finding much to do with it that would be practical or useful at this time.

A pole barn is less expensive than a stick built garage, if permitted. Green Giant evergreens grow fast to define the property lines and provide privacy. A pond provides protein, recreation, additional water in the event of fire and no mowing. My friend's retirement includes planting rows of unique and rare daylilies. They self-propagate and sell at 4 bulbs for $25.
