r/Lastpass on Reddit: logging in with face id is disabled by your lastpass administrator ?
August 7, 2023 -

Face ID isn’t option sometimes, and when I log in with my password, I discover this message:

logging in with face id is disabled by your lastpass administrator

But I don’t have an administrator. I’m the family manager for my family account. This usually goes away in a few days, and then I can enable Face ID login. But in a couple weeks, it thinks I have an administrator again?

Also, many of the apps will allow you to configure Face ID on their own, and you don't have to use LastPass to fill once you have filled it once and selected the settings in the app to use Face ID. Is the problem you are having just with Zoom, or is there something else? If you change the password in the Vault on your PC, you have to make sure that the vault updates in the LastPass app before you try to use it. Are you able to view your vault on the app on your phone? It should work either way.

r/Lastpass on Reddit: FaceID Master Password Reprompt
February 13, 2025 -

UPDATE: LP has pushed an update that rolled back authentication method to allow FaceID.

Has anyone else had any issues where LP isn't use IOS FaceID, but instead asking you to enter your master password consistently? I opened a ticket with LP, and even verified that both Log In and Unlock with Face ID is enabled.

I came to this sub just to see if anyone else was complaining about this same issue yet. It appears to be related to the recent 6.2.3 iOS app update, and I'm experiencing the same as at least the two commenters here. I've spent many hours with Lastpass support trying to make a determination if this is a bug or by design. Two LP employees have handled my ticket: the first told me this was not by design, the second that took over my ticket eventually told me that it is by design. Their last comment was that it was a change intended to improve consistency and security, but I've found it to be quite counter-intuitive and less consistent across devices. Be aware that this seems to relate back to an advanced setting in your account settings related to re-prompting for master password, and the "access a site's password" checkbox (a setting not available in the mobile app). While that option is checked - which I assume is the default - it will require you to enter your master password for every. single. autofill using the iOS app. If you uncheck it and save it, the behavior will revert to your prior experience with a Face ID validation before autofill, and master password will not be required. That said, you have now decreased security for revealing the passwords in your vault, as the master password is no longer required for that action. I cannot understand how this design makes sense, but it seems like you're now forced to choose between either entering your master password in iOS every time you perform a fill or compromising your security to restore usability to the mobile experience. My annual renewal is a month away, and this may be the straw that breaks the camel's back for me as well. ETA: My case has officially been closed with this from Lastpass. So, consider this a design decision that results in a much worse iOS experience. "Thank you for your feedback. I understand your frustration with the trade-off between usability and security, especially on iOS. The current design aims to offer more control over security, but I see how it can lead to an inconsistent experience. I'll be sure to pass your feedback to the design team. We appreciate your insights and will consider them as we work on future updates."

Same issue. Very frustrating. Going to open a support ticket and I encourage anyone else experiencing this to do so ASAP.
