October 20, 2013 - Suddenly, in 2024, the Lastpass extension has almost completely broken and it is so frustrating that I am very close to quitting their service. The problem is when I go to find a website to log into, by clicking on the extension and typing in the "Search your vault" box, the extension has stopped loading the websites as I type (which has worked for years). Nothing will load, and then I have to open the Vault button and find the website there.

Lastpass seems broken again for me. Autofill not working at all. So when I go to my vault to find the entry, search doesn't work so I have to scroll till I find it.

Now that I've found the entry, I try to click on the edit icon (a wrench) so I can manually view the password to copy and paste. But that doesn't work. I'm essentially locked out of everything. This is after trying to log out and back in.

I've been using premium lastpass for many years now. I've never seen it in such a poor state. I think I'm done.

Edit I was able to get it working in Firefox. So I can at least get into things for now.

May 18, 2024 -

I've used LastPass since 2011. Paid user. I use it multiple times a day. It's always worked well for me.

I tried to login today via my phone, and could not get in. Checked the password was correct (of course) and tried again. Didn't work.

I then tried on my laptop via several browsers. Didn't work.

Tried offline login on both devices. Didn't work.

I don't have a password hint, because I know my master password like my phone number.

The only notable interaction with LastPass recently, is that my renewal payment went through last week.

I'm very confused and out of ideas. I want to avoid resetting the account, as there are notes and other items that are irreplaceable. Has anyone else had similar issues. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Situation resolved. But I'm far from happy.

Quick facts:

- I use Firefox primarily but also Chrome

- Windows 10 machine(s)... I have multiple

- Android Phone

- PAID Lasspass account + Family

Issues:

  1. Frequently being asked to authenticate (MFA) or login to Firefox/chrome extensions sometimes more than once in the same day... and I select all the "remember" options and the 30-day option. Still, randomly logs me out and requires MFA again

  2. When doing MFA, it loads a browser page, has the previous name of the browser I custom typed, and I enter the MFA code with plenty of time to spare... it then refreshes the window, resets back to the default browser name such as "Firefox Windows" and I have to custom type the name again and do MFA again for it to stick

  3. On Android, often times the Autofill with LastPass functionality stops working and/or logs me out entirely. I have to go find the app, start it up, log back in (typically fingerprint works) and it starts working for a while before stopping seemingly randomly and requiring me to start it up again.

  4. I have some sites I use that have multiple logins. I have multiple entries in Lastpass and have managed to custom configure fields so that it will auto-populate user, pass, and maybe 1-2 other fields required to login such as account number. Seemingly randomly, these custom fields will stop working or get deleted. I have to go in and custom configure them again...

  5. Duplicate site entries sometimes show up... they are EXACTLY the same in the vault. Reddit is a perfect example... I have TWO entries that are identical, I'm generally careful to make sure I'm UPDATING existing entries vs creating new ones (possibly duplicates) so I'm pretty sure this happening for multiple different sites is not user error.

I think there are some other annoyances, this is enough for now. #1 and #2 are by far the most annoying

November 1, 2023 -

Is anyone else having this problem?

Can't log into LastPass, either on my computer, on the phone app, or by going to their website.

On my computer, the Firefox add-on tells that an unknown error has occurred. On the app, it claims the password is wrong (it isn't) and that there is no WIFI connection (there is). And on the website, www.lastpass.com, login times out. (Trying the website in Chrome or Edge doesn't work either.)

Yes, I'm planning to move to another password manager after this.

How does Lastpass drop the ball like this? It's one of the main functions that makes Lastpass easy to use.

July 20, 2023 - LastPass is still working for me, albeit more squirrely than in the past. I did change all my important passwords, reset all my 2FA codes, exported all my passwords to a CSV file and imported into KeePassXC and have started migrating over to Bitwarden. It's not perfect, but works 90% of the time.

r/Lastpass on Reddit: LastPass Vault won't open!!
April 18, 2024 -

For the past few days when I try to open Last Passit won't allow me to open the vault. It acts like it is going to (shows the white screen with Vaut greyed out) and then just stops. I've removed and reinstalled the extension and tried logging in on the website itself and it does the same thing.

The only difference between the website version and the extension is that the address changes to: https://lastpass.com/vault/?lpnorefresh=1, which is how I found this thread.

I've cleared cache and cookies, etc... Any ideas??

I'll keep it short and simple: has the issue with LastPass and the Chrome browser been fixed?

There is more than one issue with LastPass and chrome... which one are you referring to? Here are the problems I am aware of: The LastPass chrome extension sometimes is unable to access Vault. The chrome extension often puts a last pass icon in fields and obscures or confuses things in the process Lastpass will gladly fill out some fields, but fail, e.g. to fill in or remember a password field (this is often because of "tricks" played by the web designers to prevent fill ins - or to react only to mouse changes) Lastpass offers to save things randomly (and sometimes circularly) Lastpass was seriously breached, failed to get their act in order, was unable to determine what was taken, or how for months. Sometimes opening vault can take an "eternity" Lastpass has it's own idea of what "category" to save your site login in (and often it's not what you would want). When you stop paying lastpass, you get to make a choice: enable app usage or enable browser extension usage (can't do both). I understand why, but this action made BitWarden MUCH more attractive and I've switched to it. LastPass/Vault doesn't have a way to sort by "oldest password" so you can't proactively change accounts that may have been compromised or should probably be changed. Chrome sometimes decides LastPass is hostile and deactivates it by default. You have to explicitly enable LastPass in incognito mode, for example. Lastpass sometimes confuses subdomains and picks the wrong account/password. If you've enabled autofill, chrome (but more often LastPass) may fill invisible fields, or unexpected fields. For example I kept damaging our Jenkins (development engine) because it would fill in the wrong URL and/or name in a settings page.

I'm new to this subreddit but I did search old posts and scan the newer ones. Yet, I'm sure this has probably been asked and answered before so please forgive me if this is an annoying question!

That said, about a month ago, LastPass got really difficult with filling forms in my browser. Sometimes it will, but about half the time it won't - or it will only fill the username, but not the password.

Is there something I should check on my end, or is this a problem a lot of people are having?

Thanks!

Lisa

r/Lastpass on Reddit: Is LastPass down? Or just bad?
July 19, 2025 -

So today ive had the weirdest thing happen, basically I tried to log into my LP account on my tablet, i used the correct email, correct master password and it said to check my email.

After a couple minutes, nothing, I thought maybe i had the password wrong, so i give it a second go, it says incorrect password, so i KNOW my original password is correct.

I try and try, until it says im blocked for 5 minutes. Just now I get an email saying that the account has been blocked, so it IS my email.

I then made sure my mobile phone has the fingerprint recovery option on, then i try and log off and then on to the phone, to see if the problem is my tablet. But know the same problem happens and it doesnt even give me the option for the fingerprint recovery. Then i try using the recovery code sent to email, i type it and it just says its impossible to recover??

So i went to their page to try and write a support email, and as im done and click save, it shows the text from the picture. Have in mind that this was done on my PC, with no account.

What the heck is going on? Did i just completely block my account, or are the lastpass servers down or something?

Please, if anyone knows whats happening tell me.

r/Lastpass on Reddit: LastPass Authenticator blocks me from logging in for a week now
March 22, 2024 -

I haven't had trouble with LastPass for ages, but the last 1 week I have been unable to login... I login with my master password, and when I get a login request on the authenticator app, I click confirm, but I always get "Authentication failed" error message, when I try to use the generated code, that also fails saying "Multifactor authentication failed!". I am perplexed... My phone number registered in the account is also an old number I forgot to change, and here I am.

Contacted LastPass with

https://support.lastpass.com/s/contact-support?language=en_US

but haven't received any reply for a week now, is this normal?

I have never paid, always used the free version, is that why the lack of urgency in their response?

edit:

got a response from the support, they said normally they don't help free accounts, which is crazy, but they did help just for once, and I was able to get rid of the MFA, and access my vault. Will probably drop lastpass after this.

I was suddenly unable to log in to Lastpass because my password was incorrect. I log into Lastpass daily so there's no way I would forget my password, but I did double-check it against where I had written it down and it was correct.

Does this mean that someone had accessed it and changed the password? I foolishly hadn't set 2FA or tracked logins. But I've only ever accessed it via VPN.

I've reset my access since and am in the process of changing my other passwords, but given there are so many, I'm wondering how far I need to take this.

r/Lastpass on Reddit: Does Lastpass not work well with Android?
October 4, 2021 -

I've been using Google's password manager but am trying to switch to Lastpass. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if Lastpass just is very inconsistent with Android.

When I use Chrome on my desktop it seems to work fine. When I use it on my phone it's hit or miss as to whether the Google password manager comes up or whether Lastpass does. Only a few times has Lastpass come up first. Usually Google does and I have to tap the username and/or password boxes up to 8 times to get Lastpass to pop up. If it does at all.

I've enabled Lastpass autofill, given it all permissions, and turned off those same settings for Google.

I feel like it has to be me that is the issue, because if Lastpass was this inconsistent I don't think it would have such good reviews.

Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong or missing?

I'm using a Samsung Note 20 Ultra running Android 12.

The new lastpass chrome extension really sucks compared to the old one they had for years

Problems copying passwords, I press copy but it doesnt get added to the clipboard

The generator tool lost a bunch of functionality- no longer has the easy to say and easy to read options

Problems filling, where pushing the 3 dots doesnt bring up any matches (my password entry is not the issue, I have the correct URL in the password entry)

Problems finding relevant sites, where Im on a site and the LastPass Chrome extension doesn't have any relevant sites listed (my password entry is not the issue, I have the correct URL in the password entry)

Seriously, LastPass, what are you doing? Ive been with LastPass since Heartbleed in 2015, and between the new extension sucking seriously, and the breach, I am no longer satisfied.
