August 25, 2025 - I do not know why they offer a different download for “LastPass Mac App”. It downloads the same thing as “LastPass for Safari” as of May 15, 2022. Follow whatever prompts necessary to open, mount, and install the LastPass app. It first installs the LastPass for Mac App. Once you open that up, it will prompt you to then install the LastPass browser extension for Safari.

Updated Monterey on both computers (Late 2015 iMac 27" and 2017 MBP). No issues with the iMac, but with the MBP I'm not seeing my extensions in Safari 16. I have two extensions - LastPass and TranslateMe. I installed a new extension called HolaTranslator for Safari to see if it would show up.

Hi, I'm really struggling with this, I've just got a new macbook and unable to download the lastpass extension, it just sends me to the desktop and downloads the desktop app. I'm completely lost, the documentation says to download the safari extension, but I simply can't seem to get to it. Any help would be much appreciated as LastPass support guy couldn't seem to help either

I don't have experience of this on Lastpass, but I know that 1Password users on Mac need to download the desktop app to install the Safari extension. Something changed at Apple which meant this was the only way to get it to work. Have you tried installing the desktop app?

I thought this would be more prevalent, but I searched here and saw no other post on this..
As described on title, starting from v 4.94.0 I only get a blank window when trying to access password via the safari extension, this basically makes last pass useless on this browser. I tried following instructions here: https://support.lastpass.com/help/how-do-i-troubleshoot-or-uninstall-the-lastpass-for-safari-app-extension-lp010142
and it did not help. I also tried uninstalling last pass and starting from scratch, that did not help either.
Has anyone figured out how to resolve this?

Update: Just come off the phone to LastPass support and they advised me that this is a known issue and they are working on a fix - no ETA can be provided yet though. Advice was that in the meantime I use a different browser. Very disappointing. I did advise them that as a paying customer - it's a hard sell to continue paying for this product when there are better free alternatives.

Same issue, I think it's a bug affecting lastpass on M1 macs. Someone else in this forum was saying it's a known issue and Lastpass is working on a fix.

Can anyone say they’ve successfully installed LastPass on macOS Big Sur and the LastPass extension actually works in Safari?
I have a new M1 MacBook Pro and M1 Mac mini and though it installs, much of it doesn’t work. LastPass support says they are “working on the problem” - so that means about another year at the rate they fix problems.
LastPass works perfectly on an iPhone - in fact, it’s the highest rated password manager in the App Store productivity category. Why can’t they make it work with macOS.

This looks to be an issue only with Safari on the new Apple Silicon (M1) computers. Lastpass standalone app installs, but the Safari Extension doesn't. Hopefully, it gets fixed soon.

I have no issues with the Big Sur. Try downloading from app store and not from Lastpass website.
