Latex Mattress Topper Advice?
Any experience with Sleep on Latex toppers?
I have a lot of personal experience with latex, including SOL. I often tell people to go with a 2" topper unless your mattress is very firm. If you get a 3" soft topper theres a fair chance it will mess up your spinal alignment--thats true for side sleepers and back sleepers of average size. If you get a 3" medium topper its less of a concern, but many people prefer something cushy on top of a supportive mattress. It all depends on your body type and other factors tho
More on reddit.comI am looking to get a new topper for my mattress and I am absolutely hating this process. I have tried down feather bed (3" sealy) and its so comfortable but it goes flat after a couple days and its just not realistic to think I will strip my bed and fluff it every few days. once its flat I get pressure point pains, my arm goes numb even sometimes. I am mostly a back and side sleeper BTW.
Next I bought a gel memory foam (2" gel memory foam) one that had a ton of really good reviews on amazon despite me knowing already that I hate memory foam. Had a mattress years ago and it was the worst because it threw my body all out of alignment the way it swallows and engulfs you when you lay on it. so no surprise--have the memory foam topper a week trial and was in pain and walking with right hip pain and a limp for close to a week following.
ugg...so I have been looking at latex toppers. I've read tons of reviews here and elsewhere about latex toppers. sleep on latex, naturally nestled, avocado etc. but I'm trying to find if someone can tell me what it really feels like--like how does it compare to memory foam? does it cradle and swallow you like memory foam does? I ask because the latex toppers look just like memory foam toppers appearance-wise and it's making me a bit nervous at the idea of dropping $250-300 (queen size 2-3" toppers) only to be in the same boat.
I have a Purple Hybrid 2 but it was too firm. I added a 3" soft latex topper and I'm telling you, these 45-year-old bones have never been happier. The topper is supportive but soft, sleeps really cool, and there are no pressure points. It really helps on those "Hmmm gonna rain soon" and "Huh, is this arthritis? Or sciatica?" mornings.
This is the one I have but probably any latex topper will do!
Your body will thank you!
Edit regarding Purple: Their seat cushions are really good, if you're at a desk all day. But check the measurements. I bought the Ultimate or whatever the biggest one was. It is a bit too big for my chair so I can't use it for work. I do, however, use it for when I'm watching TV or reading and I love it.
