If you are looking for other recs there is SIMONS. With the closure of Hudson’s Bay, the oldest department store chain in Canada could be Simons. I don’t see people talking about this company, based out of Quebec with 17 stores across Canada and 2 more planned this year. I discovered this store when I worked downtown Calgary. Now I shop mainly online and it’s always easy to return in store or by mail. The customer service has always been good in store. There is a rewards program. Often have sales. As a department store they sell clothing - women’s, men’s, designers - several of their own house brands - as well as house wares and jewelry. For example, I found some pieces from a Montreal jewelry maker that I would have never found on my own. They do seem to promote Canadian artisans. Each store is unique design. Given they do sell so many different brands of course you have to check out the labels like you do with food products. They resell a number of Canadian brands, e.g. Yoga Jeans and brands from around the world, e.g. one year I bought Varley, which is out of the UK. I’ve found brands that typically don’t sell direct in Canada so can buy Canadian or non-US products. Their house brands target different demographics such emerging edgy for teens/young adult, 30s+ women, business attire, etc. I’ve shopped for my husband and son. Lastly, the inventory of brands changes so there will be some staples but also some items will be gone once sold out. Like Costco but fancier. Returns are $10+tax if returning by mail, free if in store, but I imagine that's far better than any US outlet you're looking at Melanie Lyne same return policy as Laura, which makes me think they're likely under the same parent company. RW&CO could work, but they might be a little casual. Returns are free, though! If you can get into a Bay store you might find something there. I'd recommend going in person as they're liquidating and you won't likely be able to return anything if it doesn't work out. More on reddit.com
