Hey guys, so recently I downloaded and tried the Lawn Love app to try to have someone else mow my lawn, as I have been pretty busy lately and don't have my mower at my current house right now.
My experience so far was that I had multiple providers cancel day of for unknown reasons, then others schedule and cancel... until someone finally showed up. (Two in the same day showed up, but the first set of guys left after 5 minutes because they said it might rain) i
So a few weeks pass, and I lose track of time due to a weird work schedule but a second crew apparently comes one afternoon while I was asleep (I work night shift) and my wife saw them get out, take a picture of the lawn amd get back in their truck and leave. I was still charged fully the next day.
I had then noticed the provider messaged me in the app trying to get my contact info to call me outside of the app to try to set up an off the books deal outside of the app, that cost much more. When asked about the charge for the lawn the day they showed up and left he said "we like to talk to you first, Noone answered your door so we left. But that charge is for the initial mow" --- the mow that was not done.
I tried to cancel the service right then (I wad unable to as you're locked to three mows before then) so I called customer support. They had great customer support which is good because you'll need to talk to them to get any kind of refund.
The customer support lady told me they were not supposed to contact me or ask for my information, and that they showed up and only took the "after" pictures (they did not take before pictures) so there was no comparison of a before and after to dispute my lawn not being cut. Eventually she refunded me a credit to the account for the next mow.. and set me up with a new crew.
This new crew canceled, rescheduled, then canceled and rescheduled the initial day - and today they finally came. Well, I had work tonight so I was asleep while they were here. I woke up, saw the yard was done, amd went to work.
Well this guy had also messaged me asking for my contact info in the app.
I gave him my number to see what he could even want, and he called me back to back while I was busy at work. Then text me he had things to "discuss" - so I text back, saying what's up and I can't talk I'm at work tonight. I never got a reply.
Does anyone else have experience with this app? I have seen some reviews saying the same thing I have experienced and some raving in a good way. Maybe it's a mixed bag based on providers?
At least the first crew never asked for my number, they only left a business card in the door - which I think is fine imo.... but then I noticed the other day that there was a large Crack in my living room window that was not there the week before.
I appreciate the hustle and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, hell I even tipped them 20% just to try to be a good faith dude for the first cut but this all just came off so sketchy at best and being blatantly lied to at worst.
The whole purpose of the app was to be a "set it and forget it" type thing, which it has been far from. It has been hours of nerve wracking customer service issues and anxiety over trying to treat people nicely, even after being done wrong by them.
Time to get back to cutting my own lawn now!
Sorry for the novel, I just thought it was a wild story and wanted to see if anyone else had any.
