layoff
/lā′ôf″, -ŏf″/
noun
- A dismissal of employees from their jobs because of tightened budgetary constraints or work shortage (not due to poor performance or misconduct).
- A period of time when someone is unavailable for work.
- (UK, soccer) A short pass that has been rolled in front of another player for them to kick.
Hi everyone! Planning a trip to Mexico very soon and wanted to ask some really dumb questions since I’ve never had a flight with a layover!
How do they work? Do you have to get off your plane and board another? Do you stay on yours?
How do you know if you will get off or stay on?
If you have to get off, do you need to go through customs again and get another boarding pass? Or will your original one be valid and you just need to find your gate? Will your gate be listed on your original pass?
How long should your layover be to ensure you do not miss your connecting flight? (The flights I’m looking at have 46 minute - 2 hour layovers)
I think those are all of my questions! For reference, I’m originating in Canada (YYZ), the layovers are in the US (DFW or IAH), and I’ll land in Cancun. Thanks so much everyone for your help :)
