You will get lots of recommendations from people who have old La-Z-Boy pieces, grew up with La-Z-Boy, etc. Old La-Z-Boy were built well, using stick built solid wood frames. New La-Z-Boy, since the last 20 years or so are no longer built that way. About 20 years ago they totally changed their manufacturing methods utilizing computer controlled routers and cutting all the parts out of sheets of plywood. The machines can cut the pieces quickly and in a very precise and consistent way. The precision cut pieces are much easier to assemble into furniture. The benefit to La-Z-Boy was greatly reduced labor and therefore assembly cost. Unfortunately, the plywood kit frames are not as durable as the original solid wood ones were. I know these details because I was a part of the project as a vendor. This method has subsequently become the industry standard in high production manufacturers. I bought the Meyer chaise sofa in January and really like it. I think the quality is really nice. My friend bought the Meyer sectional at the same time I got mine. We both looked at sofas at Pottery Barn, West Elm and some other local stores and thought the price for the level of quality at La-z-boy was the best. I also bought an accent chair a few years ago and it’s really nice quality. Maybe it depends on what you are purchasing at La-z-boy but I would consider it mid-range. More on reddit.com

We bought 2 new Lazy Boys - a small sofa and a recliner - after the August flood here in Houston, and we needed new living room furniture. Bought them, and took them home from a very popular furniture store here in town, and the sofa had some kind of lice. Okay, we said, it happens, wrapped it back up and returned it. Replacement sofa 1 had a broken board in the back. Took it back. Replacement sofa 2 had the owner's manual caught up in the footrest machinery and after turning it upside down to cut the booklet free, the store notified us that we had cut up the warranty and would not be reimbursed. Footrest never worked again after that. And at 6 months of age, the recliner has a definite tilt to the left, even though it is rarely used, just sits covered with a sheet because the cats love to sleep on the arms.

Wish I could say they had worked out, but both were nothing but trouble from day one. We even tried giving the sofa away, but the guy brought it back!
