I received a three-seater recliner from a charity shop. On one side, the recliner works as expected. The other side, when I first plugged it in, it automatically fully opened without pressing anything. When I pressed the button to close it again, nothing happened.
I thought perhaps the power wasn't working. However, if I press down on the foot side (to try and close it ), I can hear the electric pushing back to re-open it - almost like the 'open' switch is being pressed. The pushing back stops when I press the 'close' button but as soon as I let go, it opens.
It was working normally at the charity shop.
Is this a problem anyone is aware of and knows how to fix?
Thank you!
I have a La-Z-boy 10x704 (https://www.la-z-boy.com/p/living-room-recliners-rocking-recliners/reed-power-rocking-recliner-w-headrest--lumbar/_/R-10X704) that stopped working. Before paying for at least one service call, I'd like to check some things.
I am getting power to the green light on the power block. Since it completely stopped working, I suspect it's the controller on the side or a power issue (or a bad wire to one of them). Specifically I want to bypass the cat5 from the side buttons to the motor/brain, but I can't remove the end on the other side to test with another cord.
Any tips on this or ways to check other components is appreciated. It seems like La-Z-boy has a blackout on troubleshooting vids. They are impossible to find.
As the title states, I have a La-Z-Boy Power Lift Recliner chair that is stuck in the recline position.
Recliner Specifics:
Manufacture Date: 07/17/2023 Style: 1PH519
"Astor Platinum Power Lift Recliner w/ Headrest & Lumbar"
Remote Details:
"Type: HSC-LAZ-P10LCPLUS
Rev: 3
S/N: 3720523190351183
LZB PN: 10.000089
LIBERTY System"
It's only a year old. It was given to me by someone who "didn't want to fool with it" lol, so warranty is out of the question according to La-Z-Boy since I'm not the original owner.
Here is what I've tried so far:
Replaced backup batteries in the power supply with new ones
Checked for green light on power supply (It's there & illuminated)
Checked all connections; all are connected & snug. No crimps or pinches in them that I could find.
Took remote apart & checked for water damage, debris, corrosion, pinched wires, etc. Nothing visibly wrong with it.
Disconnected the remote & tried a "relay" trick I saw on YouTube (Use two pieces of wire to bypass the remote so that it will at least go back in the seated position). The problem is that I can't find a diagram of that exact 8 pin plug to know which are power, ground, etc. I tried a few combinations but kept forgetting which I had done & gave up, figured I'd have better luck finding a diagram somewhere.
At this point, the most important thing to me is getting the chair out of the recline position so that it's a functional piece of furniture... You would think a $3,000+ chair designed for elderly folks who can't get up & down would have, say, an emergency manual release somewhere? I can't find one, even called La-Z-Boy customer care to see if there is ANY WAY to get it to go down without a new remote & was told no.
I don't MIND buying a new remote, however the parts are non refundable & the only one that I can find is pushing $250. I don't want to buy a $250 remote & that not fix the problem.
There are tons of aftermarket off brand remotes on amazon, most 5 pin, which I assume wouldn't work. The few 8 pin ones are rated bad or have a female end where it needs to be male.
SO with all that said, here are my questions:
IS there a way to get in normal seated position without a remote?
Does anyone have the diagram of the la z boy 8 pin connector by chance?
Can anyone recommend any 8 pin or compatible remotes that would work? If less pins would work I don't care if it lacks other functions, I just want it to go back in!
I have lots of photos in an album if the ones attached don't show up:

The footrest is stuck in the out position and the reclining mechanism can only be released by pushing on the latch from underneath.
