FWIW...$250 is a really good price for the 7.25qt. I have seen that deal (or close to it) once or twice on amazon...usually for Cerise. The 9 qt...I haven't seen deals on, but if you don't mind the classic style (as opposed to signature), you might keep in touch with the outlets. They frequently have 30-35% cast iron. We're a family of 5, and i got the 9-quart, and it's perfect for us to all have 2nds and some leftovers. I used a 6 quart pot for 15 years and loved it. But we've just outgrown it now that I've got 2 teenage boys. You can always cook less food in a bigger pot, but not fit more into a smaller pot! More on reddit.com

I've been watching some cooking videos and I'm trying to decide between the 6.75 qt Signature round wide dutch oven and the classic round 7.25 qt round dutch oven. The guy I've been watching seems to make a lot using the round wide dutch oven. If i were only to get one, which one would you guys recommend? I'm noticing that the round wide 6.75qt is also about 200 dollars cheaper on their site which feels significant. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

At the price the wide round is, no question, it’s a fabulous very versatile piece. It also works great as a braiser. It does depend somewhat on what you cook, but everything you can make in the 7.25 you can make in the wide round.

The wide round is only like a pint smaller than the DO, so it's negligible in terms of fitting stuff. Also, wider base = better searing. I'm getting the wide in tomorrow, and am intending to do a photo comparison of the 2 sizes for the sub.

I am considering buying one new; ideally Flame, Cerise or Marseille, but I am not firm on color. From what I have looked through on Amazon, looks like the cheapest the signature round 7.25 QT gets (when sold by Amazon) is $250, while I am not really seeing a lot of variation in the price of the 9 QT from ~ $500.
I am not in any hurry, but I don't think I could make it to the outlet store -- they are too far off from where I live. I understand from searching this site that sales occasionally happen every now and then, not clear to me how deep the discount gets for these two pieces?
I wouldn't mind getting the oval or deep variants, just want to get something large so in the 7 - 9 QT range.

The 8 quart oval is currently on sale for $350 from a few authorized retailers. I did notice the actual Le Creuset website has ended that sale for the 8 quart so you may want to swoop in on that deal. Also a lot of the outlets actually ship if you want to call around and see what deals they may have. Edit- there’s actually some 8 quart ovals in limited colors floating around at $300 I found one at Cutlery and more in cerise
