I would approach this in a similar way to how I would design vanity lighting in a bathroom. Ideally you have at least two fixtures, one on each side of the mirror that will light up your face and body in a way that is attractive. Inexpensive floor lamps could do the trick, which you can find at IKEA or a local thrift store. There are also those low-profile LED floor lamps that look like a stick in case you're pressed for space, although those will cost more. There are other cheap options as well- LED strips, while often unsightly on their own can provide good, multicolored light and often have a sticky back that can be mounted directly to the mirror. It will probably leave a residue when you eventually move but overall the impact is quite low. If I were in your shoes I might attempt to DIY something in the spirit of an old-school makeup vanity mirror. A couple of common boards cut and screwed together into a crude rectangular frame the size of the mirror, then drilled with hundreds of small holes through which I poke Christmas lights, sealing them in with hot glue. The whole thing could just be leaned against the mirror, having zero impact on the rental, and would make me sparkle. Good luck! More on reddit.com
