are you gonna set it up behind the bed or for like the ceiling? cos you’ll be needing a longer strip for the ceiling. and it would cost a lot if going with Phillps Hue or something like that. imo you can find cheaper light strips at Amazon. they work as good as the premium ones with decent coverage and colours. plus i wouldn’t advice leaning towards those led lights that come with app control. cos those apps are useless anyways. slow connectivity and sometimes they stop working after a few updates. but for some who still wanna feel fancy with an app, then Govee works and the app is kinda smooth (v rare). but then the prices for these are also ridiculous. and there is not that much difference in the lighting. you’re just basically paying more for the app interface which doesn’t matter that much imo. although the cheaper ones wouldn’t last that long. but they’re already cheap so just replace them a few times over. you’re still gonna save money compared to buying the premium ones. June 7, 2025Can I use led strips as the only source of bedroom lighting?
As others have mentioned, it really depends on the intended usage mostly in regards to output power and white light quality. RGB can't produce white, it can only make colors. Actual white light is a full spectrum which adding R+G+B together can't do. If you'd go RGBW or RGBCCT that's solved but then there is a problem of white light quality still. The CRI or RA value of the light. This needs to be a decent CRI90 (not tricked) but preferred even higher, values such as the R9 value are important. And even when that would be ok, there is the light output. Digitally addressable strips often just aren't that bright, the little controllers on there can only handle so much. Dumb analog PWM lighting can go much brighter. Now if this is purely a bedroom, using some ws2805 for instance, which has a fair CRI90 and dual white LEDs would work I'd think. But if you want to do something that requires a decent amount of light, working on a project, reading a book for a while, etc. Etc. You'll likely want more light... Check out my video about ws2805 those would be your besr bet in quality while being addressable but I do also highlight and show the power issue. Hope it helps! More on reddit.com

Switch off your garage’s breaker. Remove the old fixtures. Use a screwdriver and hammer to knock out holes. Plumb the wiring through and lift the light into place. Attach wires accordingly: black to black, white to white, green to green. If screws are present, attach one screw to one side of the strip and align the light so that it’s parallel to the garage’s layout. Screw in the remaining screw(s). Flip the breaker back on.

I have 33ft of a multiple color led strip for my new apartment. I want to use them to brighten the room, so I can wake up to the light as it mimics the sun rise. (I used to have overhead lights so this was easier to do). Any ideas on where to put them?
I'm struggling with how to not have the lights just sitting on the wall. Cuurent idea is around the base melting, but they still won't be hidden.

I have been wondering what are the best led strips for my ceiling. I am going to do an cloudy sky on my ceiling with led strips and cotton. Philips hue is bit out of my price range. The leds should preferrably be 5 meters and should be able to be controlled via an app.

imho cheap strips look fine on their own but turn dim or uneven under cotton. i’d skip overpaying for hue and just grab something with solid color consistency and a physical remote, less to break later. saw the lepro one get mentioned alot on some communities. apparently hold up fine for that kind of setup consdidering it desnt make u mess with buggy app pairing every time your wifi hiccups.
