May 24, 2023 - I am on my second low end ARE topper. When my '11 F-250 was destroyed by hail the topper had slight cosmetic damage. My home's roof needed replacement and my son's truck with an ATX topper parked ~10 feet away had significant but cosmetic damage. I've no experience with Leer. ... I checked on a Leer at the dealership closest to me. The quoted me 6 to 9 weeks for a long bed 2021 shell.

Looking to buy a cap for my short bed ‘19 Off Road, mostly for security but more than likely going to sleep/camp back there at some point.

I had an A.R.E. on my 2014 longbed and currently have a LEER on my 2019 shortbed. I’ve used them both for the same purpose of sleeping/camping, and the LEER (imo) fits much better but either way I didn’t have any leaking with either with the rain we did get. I bought both caps used, and while I liked the sliding windows with screens on the ARE, the windoors on my LEER are much more convenient for grabbing stuff from the back without having to open the tailgate and climb in.

Spendy, but if I needed/wanted another cap on a truck, it would be an ARE, hands down. ... Hey there, I own a 2022 SR Tacoma and I want a bed topper. I've found a slightly used Century for $1800 locally in the color of my truck, not sure how good those caps are. The alternative would be to keep hunting for an ARE or Leer. I always thought Leer was the best, but wondering what you all think. My budget is around $2500. I'd love to get one with a carpeted top liner and pet screens for my dogs. I thought about a folding-up one, but I live in Michigan and my car sits outside year-round, I wouldn't want the snow to ruin it.

September 25, 2021 - It boiled down to the only moving part on the Topper, the rear Window hinges. I chose the A.R.E. Z series. A.R.E. rear window hinges are substantially heavier, stronger. Everything else seemed pretty much equal. A.R.E. also uses American owned and made Yakima racks. Leer doesn't.
