HDMI-port-not-working - English Community - LENOVO COMMUNITY
January 2, 2022 - Try performing a System File Checker to your machine as it might have a connection to how your hdmi stopped working. Lastly, one way to know if this is really a hardware failure or not is to try running a full system reset on the laptop itself. The reset will primarily wipe out all the data and information stored on the device and will restore all the drivers back to defaults. If in case that the hdmi port still does not work after the reset, it only means that the HDMI port itself is already faulty.

Hi! · This can be caused by multiple thing! · Do you know if the hdmi port has worked prior? Have you in the past dropped you laptop or spilled any liquid on it? · First of, please verify that the external monitor is working. That it is powering up, and that another device can connect and display to it. Preferably using the same hdmi port in the monitor. If this don't work, please try: · Another cable · Another port in the monitor · If there were any issues with above, please try the new cable / port with your laptop and see if this works. If everything works with the monitor, then it is probably the a laptop problem. · We'll now check some potential hardware issues: · Check if the hdmi port looks broken. · Do you see any debris? If you see debris, please clean it out with something like a (wooden) toothpick or something similar. · Do you see any 'goo' or corrosion? · Do you see any bent pins, or any burn marks? Then the physical port is likely busted, and unless you can re-solder a new port on the motherboard (which is an advanced procedure) then replacing the motherboard is the only solutions, which sadly may not be practical. · We will now check some software issues on your laptop, keep your monitor plugged in with these steps: · Restart your laptop. · Please make sure you have all your drives, firmware, bios and windows up to date. You can find your device drivers on Lenovo's support page. Don't forget to restart your laptop! · Please go into your windows settings, enter system settings, and then display (may slightly differ on windows 10). · Can you see multiple displays there? If yes, then you should have multiple display options, on: · Windows 11, Display settings: at top of the page, in the bottom right of the display layout box, you will see options such as Disconnect this display, next to the Identify button. Press this , then you should get a drop-down menu, please select Extend desktop to this display. · Windows 10, Display settings: Scroll down to the Multiple Displays sections, there you have a box that may say Disconnect this display. Press this Disconnect this display box, then you should get a drop-down menu, please select Extend desktop to this display. · If neither of above solves this, you may want to open up the laptop and inspect the motherboard, especially around the hdmi connector area if you see any disintegrated components, any burns or corrosion. Here is a link to a motherboard disassembly for your model. If you find something problematic, you'd most likely need to replace that component to solve the problem (and that may still not fix it), which would suddenly transform this into an advanced repair. You may also take a picture and upload for us to see if you want, then please see this guide Adding images to an existing question. · If neither of this works, please respond and we will see what we can do! · Good luck, · Cheers

Lenovo laptop HDMI port not working — Grokipedia
February 21, 2026 - If the scan or display-related tests fail, flag errors related to the video/graphics adapter, display communication, or other display subsystem components, this strongly indicates a hardware-level problem with the HDMI controller, port circuitry, or GPU integration.[26] When these signs are present—especially in combination—the HDMI port or associated hardware is likely damaged and will require professional inspection and repair. Software workarounds will not resolve the issue in such cases. If all prior troubleshooting steps fail to restore HDMI output and the issue suggests hardware failure, contact Lenovo support for professional diagnosis or repair under warranty if applicable.[27] Begin by checking warranty status on the official Lenovo support website.

Hi @dennischmieljr · As you haven't said what you've tried apart from proving the monitor and HDMI cables are OK: · Has the same external monitor worked OK before when connected to this laptop? · Is there a display on the external monitor when you press the F7 key? · Is the external monitor being shown as detected on the laptop when you right-click on the desktop, and then click Display settings ➙ Display. If not click Detect in the Display window and check if a Monitor 2 icon appears. If so, click on it → display adapter properties → monitor → select refresh rate · If it is not detected at all use a strong light and a magnifying glass to visually inspect the HDMI port in the laptop to see that all the pins are there and that they're all straight and not bent, broken or missing. · If the port appears to be OK then here's the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop. Go to p.83 in the manual (89 of 108 pdf numbering) to view the procedure to remove/replace the systemboard. This will allow you to visually inspect the HDMI port to see that it is securely soldered onto the motherboard. · If the port appears to be connected OK most likely it will be a motherboard problem and not a HDMI port connector problem per se. · The HDMI port connects via a mux (multiplexer) unit directly to the CPU as the GPU is integrated with the CPU. It may be more of a software problem than a hardware problem - see image below. · Have you checked that the laptop has the latest Intel HD graphics drivers V30.0.101.1339 installed? · (click on image)
