Getting two 16GB sticks for a total of 32gb of ram would be the best way to ensure high performance without any compatibility issues. Your laptop definitely supports 32GB of ram so you really don't have much to worry about when it comes to technical difficulties with your computer. The amount of ram that you have actually has very little do to with how stable your computer is, and won't make your computer any more prone to technical difficulties. Mixing different types of ram can lead to compatibility issues, and for that reason, most experienced builders would simply replace your 8gb stick with 2 16gb sticks. Computers tend to run better that way to begin with because the system can fully allocate memory across the two sticks. For these reasons, I suggest that you upgrade to a full 32gb of ram. RAM is a very straightforward upgrade. You won't need to do a factory reset or anything really, maybe some tweaks in the bios to ensure that the ram is running at the right speed, but that's about it. First Plug in your laptop as you may not get full performance if youre running on battery. Maybe youre running on the integrated graphics instead of your 3050 , go to Settings>System>Display>Graphics. Click on Cyberpunk and make sure it says "high performance".
