A six core 3,3GHz system with a GeForce 3050 and 16GB is considered "low end" today? Apart from that: If you really want to, you can easily abuse any CAD software so that your computer barely crawls. But if you know what you're doing, you can get a full wind turbine in 16GB of RAM. Sounds like a weird thing to say, but that was my job 15 years ago, when 16GB of RAM and a 4 core CPU was the absolute top of the line, which is what I had in my office back then. It's a decent computer but I've seen some better deals recently on r/LaptopDeals The 3050 is an entry level dGPU from the previous RTX generation so if you're planning on playing AAA titles you may want to move up to at least a 60 series (3060/4060) or perhaps the newer 4050 which is still entry level but steps up performance a bit from the 3050 and adds new features like frame generation and AV1 encoding that are exclusive to the 4000 series cards. Hey, everyone! If anyone has owned or still owns a LENOVO IdeaPad Gaming 3 16" laptop, would you be able to give your review on it?
I one I plan to buy has specs:
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 6600H
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB
RAM: 16GB
For £590 brand new in the UK.
I just want to know if anyone has had these models or similar and if there are any red-flags or things I should be aware of (problems/issues wise) before finally committing. Any "poor manufacturing choices" that are present before I buy?
I plan to use the laptop for Uni, basic Word, Powerpoint and OneNote. Also plan to use it for AutoCAD and Inventor for both 2D and 3D modelling.
Aswell as personal use like gaming: Fall Guys, Rocket League, Grounded, GTA5 and maybe RDR2. Alongside recording with OBS and video editing with Da Vinci. I honestly don't mind the performance of the games I play (simple 30-60fps, 1080p with medium-high settings would do me good).
