January 21, 2025 - Let’s start off with the namesake identity of the IdeaPad Slim, which is of course the slim factor. This is a body that houses a 16-inch display after all, but it doesn’t actually feel that large during everyday use. Lenovo says the Slim 5i is rugged and military-grade durable, but I don’t see what is particularly special about this laptop’s build.

August 26, 2025 - However, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5i 2-in-1 is somewhat of an old-school budget laptop. It uses a cheaper Intel chip, which compromises performance and battery life, and at first glance, it appears to be overpriced.

July 7, 2025 - At 13.52 x 9.43 x 0.74 inches and 3.59 pounds, the IdeaPad Slim 3 15 is not small, thin, or light, but I never found that to be problematic. No one is going to fly regularly with this type of laptop, and most customers will use it exclusively at home. Which is smart, because the battery life is a poor 4 hours or less in real-world usage. Instant-on is a distant dream, and it’s not really possible for me to comment on reliability beyond my observing that every day was a new adventure. Lenovo provides a 65-watt power adapter with the IdeaPad, but it has a proprietary barrel connector.

September 11, 2025 - Given the laptop’s lightweight, I thought a touchscreen would make the tablet experience a bit more elevated, but unfortunately, the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 does not support one. If you’re an artist or a graphic designer, you might want to look into a Lenovo Slim review or the Lenovo Flex 5 for your artistic pursuits.

May 20, 2025 - The best Lenovo laptop we've tested is the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 15 Aura Edition (2025). With a compact design and a battery life of around 15 hours in light use, this 15-inch premium ultraportable is amazing for on-the-go use.

May 25, 2025 - Aesthetically, the IdeaPad won’t win any awards, but it comes in a handsome Cosmic Blue color that’s very similar to the more expensive Yoga 9i. It doesn’t look or feel cheap. I was a bit nervous about the bundled software, given the price point. There aren’t that many apps and utilities, thankfully, but they do maximum damage. In addition to Dolby Access and Intel Graphics Command Center, there are six Lenovo apps, not counting the user guide link: Lenovo HotKeys (keyboard configuration), Lenovo Now (product registration and Lenovo and third-party upsells), Lenovo Subscription Marketplace (a link to the Lenovo Software & Subscriptions website), Lenovo Vantage (drivers product service, and Lenovo upsells), and Smart Connect (for integration with Lenovo and Motorola phones, tablets, and PCs).
