I dont think a slim laptop would be able to tame the heating of i7 h series processor . also Ideapad slim 3 is one of lenovos budget categories so i wont advise you getting such a high tdp chip in there . Check the reviews if it handles the heat well you can consider to buy it . also ideapads dont last long on average as much as thinkpads do . More on reddit.com

Please for the love of god no. I am a lenovo fanboy to death, but the IdeaPad is so bad that I would only recommend it if you have a budget of 300 or less. It jas no expandable ram, storage and it can't charge with USB-C. If I were you I'd look for something else. Asus has some good gaming laptops I presume. More on reddit.com

Lenovo for brand - but have you looked into the Legion (possibly out of your price range). The thing that lets it down is the I5 processor performance. If you look at the CPU reviews separately, they'll give you an idea of why it's OK but not the best performance for your buck (especially if you're editing). Thinkpads are known to be one of the top of the line laptops for quality. A lot of the time, you can get a good CPU, but the graphics cards don't seem to match in performance. Go to the lenovo site and see if customising suits you maybe? More on reddit.com

I wouldn't buy this laptop as it's 2 major generations old. Look for something newer. Check what the specifications of the IPS is. If it's 45% ntsc, then it's trash. The colors can be insanely dull. More on reddit.com

Hey everyone,
I’m currently looking for a laptop that will serve me well for my studies and software engineering work, and I’ve come across the Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 15IRH8 with the following specs:
Intel i7-13620H processor
16GB RAM
512GB SSD
It looks pretty solid on paper, but I’m curious to know if it’s a good choice for a couple of reasons:
Studies: I’m in need of a laptop that’s fast and responsive for handling academic work, note-taking, web browsing, and using software like Microsoft Office, as well as some heavier tools when needed. How does the i7-13620H handle multitasking and day-to-day use?
Software Engineering: I’m planning on using it for coding (Java, Python, C++) and running some development environments like IntelliJ, VS Code, and Docker. Is this laptop capable of running these smoothly without lag?
Longevity: I’m hoping to keep this laptop for several years, at least 4–5 years. Does anyone have experience with the longevity of this model or similar Lenovo laptops? How well do they hold up over time?
Other Considerations: I’ve heard mixed things about Lenovo’s build quality—can anyone speak to how sturdy or reliable the Ideapad Slim 3 is?
