[FIXED] I've just installed and msata SSD on the msata slot in my X230. I booted up once when the PC was half unassembled and everything worked fine, so I finished closing it and now when I boot it up I get a 1 3 3 1 code in bios and the machine doesn't POST. What cloud be the problem? Thanks in advance for your help
Today while installing a new trackpad (3 button) onto my x240 I encountered this beep error code and a blank screen. If anybody could help me solve this issue I would be grateful, Thanks!
Hi guys,
Recently my Lenovo T420 motherboard has died on me, so I bought a new one. The motherboard was parted out in front of me, and the condition of it and the laptop was very new. When I tested it, everything worked fine.
When I got home and installed it on my laptop, everything worked fine except for the RAM slot underneath the keyboard. I put in a 2 GB RAM stick in the slot, and I would get the beep. I have a 4 GB RAM stick installed in the other slot. If I put in any other RAM (including the 4 GB that worked) in the slot underneath the keyboard, it still would not work. I would still get the 1-3-3-1 beep.
I also tried blowing air into the RAM slot to clear any debris or dust, but no luck.
Any idea on how to fix this? It really sucks to lose a RAM slot..
Remove battery and disconnect charger. Remove all the RAM. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Install the 4GB RAM on the slot under the keyboard. Reconnect charger, turn on laptop.
If it boots properly, run a RAM test like memtest86+, allow it to complete 2 passes. It no RAM errors are detected, turn off the laptop, disconnect charger, allow it to cool off a bit, then install the 2GB RAM on the other RAM slot. If it boots properly, rerun the RAM test.
Did you really test both RAM slots when it was shown to you?
Try a few different RAM modules. If still no luck, bring it back for a refund.
hiya, my girlfriends laptop has started showing a beep code pattern of 1-3-3-1 and won't turn on, the internet tells me that this might be something to do with the RAM or the CMOS battery, both of which I've had a look at and they seem to be normal but there's not really a way to tell what's wrong other than its maybe related to those two things. anyone had this problem or know anything about it that could help me fix the issue? cheers

Hello!
I have a think x230 tablet which I bought five years ago and set up to run Ubuntu, it has been my trusty sidekick and traveled all over the country and Europe with me.
The palm rest and touch pad have started to show some wear, so I bought replacement parts on Amazon. I followed the instructions in this video: https://youtu.be/RCBRVuwr06A
But after taking off the keyboard and palmrest, I realized that the palmrest wasn't quite the same as the original, and I only had a track pad cover, not the whole thing. So I put the old palmrest and keyboard back in, being careful to reconnect their cables properly (as far as I could tell anyway).
I put all the screws back in, and tried to turn the computer on, but the screen just stays black, and the computer makes a series of beeps: one beep followed by a pause, then three beeps, three beeps again, then a single final beep.
I looked this up on the Lenovo website (https://support.lenovo.com/fr/en/solutions/ht035729), according to this website it is a problem with the DIMM and/or the system board.
What does this mean, and is it something I can fix myself? If so, how?
Thanks in advance for any help!
EDIT: Big thanks to u/ckdonik1, u/zardvark, u/Bredius88, and u/Quackmatic for their help!
u/Quackmatic identified the problem, I had accidentally pushed some foil shielding on the palm rest out of place when prying out the keyboard, pushing it back into place solved the problem.
Hi, my ThinkPad e14 is making that beep code and I donโt really know what is the issue. It doesnโt beep on every start up which is quite annoying.
Hello, Just got a T430 motherboard. As for now I don't have a proper keyboard for it (it's an R61 keyboard) so the keyboard mappings are wrong and I don't have a screen (trying to use an external monitor). Basically, I have tried connecting it to power - it instantly turns on, beeps 3 times only (cannot find that code anywhere?) And no display. I don't know what could be the cause (I have first tried booting without the keyboard). Thanks in advance
