An 8th gen i7 is enough, I would pick a model with 16gig of ram as its not upgradable and 8gig will be quite restrictive with some software. The integrated graphics will do it for what you will doing in university. Between E15 and the X1 is personnal preference. Do you want a plastic case but more powerful or an older laptop with nice magnesium/carbon case. More on reddit.com

It’s been a long time since I had a Lenovo product and even longer since I’ve owned a ThinkPad. But when Lenovo offered to lend me their 2019 ThinkPad Carbon I really like Lenovo’s new Thinkpad Carbon X1 and I think it has it where it counts: the construction, the inputs and the multitude of screens and hardware configurations, among others. Compared to the previous models, this 2019 X1 Carbon 7th gen improves in the screens, audio and noise-levels, but settles for shorter battery life and some performance limitations in demanding loads. We'll talk about all these aspects in the review below.

Hello! I'm currently majoring in CS and thinking of buying a new laptop since my Acer Aspire can't handle some softwares we are using at university ( for reference I already had this laptop upgraded and fix many times but it keeps on performing sucks so I decided to just buy a brand new instead. ) and my choices so far are Macbook, Acer Nitro, and Lenovo ThinkPad but people everywhere from reddit, facebook, and tiktok loves ThinkPad and I have never heard anything bad about it ( I was even surprised people are against Macbook )
So is ThinkPad worth is worth it for programming, editing, and maybe a little bit of Games? + I find the price range okay since it is within my budget. Thank you much!

About what generation are you talking? The X1 carbons are uktrabooks and they are quite good. A T Series will always be cheaper, but also slightly thicker and heavier. What generation are you looking at? The new gen 13 is a huge leap in performance and battery runtime, but they are also quite expensive.

I do love my x1 carbon, it has 4k which I could take or leave for my particular usage of development and 3d modeling, just got a great deal a few years ago. It is light as hell with the magnesium and carbon fiber body, but carrying it by just a corner doesn't bend. Trackpad kinda sucks compared to Mac but isn't bad, kinda small though. I daily a 16" MacBook Pro provided by work and every time I grab my x1 I miss how light and great it feels to carry around.
