Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out to the community for some assistance. I recently bought a Type-C replacement charger for my Lenovo Yoga 7, but unfortunately, it's not working as expected. Here are the details:

Model: Lenovo Yoga 7 14IAL7
Charger Type: Type-C replacement charger

The charger seems to be compatible, but my laptop isn't recognizing it. I've tried a few basic troubleshooting steps like:

Checking the connection to ensure it's secure
Restarting my laptop while the charger is connected
Trying different power outlets

Despite these efforts, my laptop still doesn't seem to be charging. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their Lenovo Yoga 7 or any other laptop with a Type-C charger? If so, what solutions worked for you?

Any advice, tips, or recommendations for compatible chargers would be greatly appreciated!

Does the original Lenovo charger still work on the Yogo 7? If not, have you confirmed that it is broken by trying it on a different laptop? If it works on a different laptop, then your laptop USB-C port may be faulty. If the Lenovo charger still works on the Yogo 7, perhaps buy another one of those instead of off-brand. For the off-brand charger, were you able to confirm that it works on some other laptop? Is it 60W or higher ensuring that 20 volts is available?

The charger for my laptop, a Lenovo Yoga 7i 2-in-1 16IML9 - Type 83DL, just broke and I’m looking for a replacement. I don’t completely trust the generic ones on Amazon and at Walmart but I’ll buy from them if I hear good things about the chargers there. The laptop can only take usb-c type charger. The photos I attached are of the charger that comes with the laptop when you buy it. I’m looking for recommendations since the issue with the charger isn’t one I can get fixed.

You can trust Anker PowerPort III 65W. I have two of it and use it with my thinkbook 14 G6. One for my office, the other one for travel. It even works if i charge my phone simultaneous (but then just 45W instead of 65W). Its also a way smaller then the stock power supply

Any decent quality 65W USB-C PD charger will do. Anker, Aukey, Ugreen, Baseus are the safe bets. Alternatively anything from the big companies like Dell, Lenovo, Samsung, Apple... Usually costs more though. It might even work off 45W, but I can't guarantee so I'd play it safe with 65W.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 7i 16" 2-in-1 laptop and am on vacation for a couple days and naturally I forgot my dang charger at home LOL.

The charge port on the laptop is just a regular USB-C input.

I do have a powered USB hub and plugging in a USB-A to USB-C cable to it and my laptop didn't work. But the hub also has a port for a USB-C to USB-C cable, the port saying 3A max (the USB-A to USB-C port was just 2.4A max), and I'm wondering if I get a USB-C to USB-C cable if that might work.

Has anyone charged their Yoga series laptop with just a USB-C cable, without the power brick/adapter? 🤞

USB-C allows to supply a variety of voltage (5V, 9V, 12V, 20V, I might’ve missed some). You are, most likely, trying to charge it with 5V, but your laptop probably needs 12V or more likely 20V. Hence it’s not charging. You need to check your laptop specs and probably get one of them “power bricks”. I usually have Anker GaN adapter with me on vacation. It has a USB-C port which can power any laptop I have, and 3 normal USB ports for phones/headphones/shaver/flashlight and other stuff; it barely weight anything and has a C7 mains socket which makes it easy traveling to countries with various sockets.

Full disclosure, I’m really not good with specific tech, so I could be missing something really obvious here. I have a Lenovo Yoga C940. My last charger was a 65W USB-C, and it recently broke. All of these wattage and voltage specifications tend to go over my head, so even though I can look up the best replacements, I’m still not really sure what the best option is. Any price point is fine, as long as it will last. Does anyone have any recommendations for a 65W USB-C? (If it’s possible for it to not be so bulky, too, I’d also appreciate that. The one I have right now is in like two separate parts between the charger block and power bank, and that’s really annoying to travel with. But if that’s just how it is for it to work right, I can live with it.) Thanks!
