July 19, 2023 - This is something I can personally identify with, as I try to minimise the time I spend in areas of the hospital without mask mandates when on placement and as a patient I have declined an operation (within a different trust) due to their poor Covid-19 infection control measures. Moreover, the mortality rate for patients with hospital-acquired Covid-19 is substantially higher than for community-acquired infection. A systematic review found that patients infected with Covid-19 whilst in hospital are at a 30% greater risk of death compared to patients hospitalised with community-acquired Covid-19 (16). Also, a recent study in a London teaching hospital found that mortality rate of hospital-acquired Covid-19 was 13% (9% direct cause, 4% contributing factor; 17). Combined with W2's from the time I was employed it has been universally accepted. ... This is a good point and I hadn’t thought of that. The client I’m writing this for, I don’t believe and honestly neither do they, that they’ll be going out of business, but you never know ... I would mention the reason for the separation in this case, "Due to COVID-19 Pandemic." This will spare you a headache's worth of phonecalls when employers call to verify why employment ended.
