Levi's 517's boot cut used to be nice, tough denim that lasted years. The more you wore them, the more comfortable they got. The denim they use now is thin crap. I finally realize why people constantly ask about jeans in this sub. Real denim subreddits are more dedicated to vintage finds or raw denim stuff, leading me back here.
So I've been wearing Wrangler cowboy cuts for a while now. I've worn the original fit and slim fit. Love 'em for the durability, but I found the Levi 527s and realized I was super into the flared-out bootcut as opposed to Wrangler's straighter bootcut.
Thing is, the 527s aren't cut quite right in the waist for me. Low-rise jeans and I ain't quite on the same page. So I found the 517 online, but can't find anywhere to try it on in person.
How does it compare in fit to the 501s or 527s? Or even to Wrangler's cowboy cut jeans?

Get the 517’s. They’ve changed the cut of them- they’ve always had a higher rise but now they’re slightly slimmer through the thigh than older models are. You can always have them tailored as well. I’ve wrongly been calling these 527’s but they are 517’s that I’ve had tailored to fit like 527’s. So to clarify they are 517’s. It’s an older pair but as I’ve said the newer cuts are being slimmed in the thigh. I have both 527’s and 517’s. The low rise isn’t for everyone so depending on what fits best, get the 517’s.

517 are more of a regular fit like kind of looser in the thigh region and 527 are more of a slimmer fit aka more tighter around the thighs.
