What is up with all jeans being low-rise now?
There are definitely mid to high rise pants out there, especially in the raw denim world.
You might have better luck if you broaden your search beyond the mall brands, which typically cater to the masses, who would rather not have mid or high rise waists.
More on reddit.comLet's discuss low-rise jeans for men. I do not get why they even exist.

It seems like nowadays the only type of jeans you can really find are the low rise type. I can only guess as to why but I think it probably has something to do with the popularity of the skinny style type of jean that is trending now.
Thats all well and good but I know there are a lot of guys, including myself, who don't fit so well into this style. My problems with low rise jeans are mostly:
-
You cant tuck a shirt in and wear a belt with them. Because of the larger waistline it tends to look scrunched up.
-
For dudes with larger thighs, having big legs prevents you from pulling them up to where they should be, and continually pulls them down as you move around.
-
They offer less range of motion with your legs contributing to a less comfortable fit.
Express for example, used to be my favorite store to go to for jeans. Now I know for a fact that all they offer is low rise. The Rocco style type they used to carry was not low rise (sat at the waist)and even had some polyester or spandex woven into them for a little bit of stretchiness that made them always look form fitting and contributed to comfort. Calvin Klein also used to be great for jeans but they have essentially converted their stock to low-rise as well.
Can anyone provide insight as to where "normal" fit trendy jeans can be bought? I know Levis offers a couple of different styles that fit the description although I haven't tried them. Other folks have suggested Ralph Lauren or Banana Republic. Any advice will help!!

damn, finally someone gets it. tucking your shirt into low rise jeans looks so shitty.
501s are definitely very accessbile so give those a try if you haven't already. the stf ones are a good way to get a reasonably slim fit. The LVC ones comes in a variety of different cuts, some with great rises.
it seem slike it's easier to find higher rise jeans from higher quality denim brands. I'd check out r/rawdenim - try searching for high rise.
I'd probably figure out what rise length works best for you - personally, I like a rise that's 10.5 - 11" - and then use that to hunt around for brands/stores that have size charts.
