tl;dr: This was my first cordless vacuum. I hated it and promptly returned it. This review is just to pour cold water over anybody's desire to get any cordless stick vacuum since Black Friday will be here soon and these things will probably be on sale.
Background: I recently gave my mother my Miele C3 Homecare because I just moved. At my new home, I saw a bunch of cordless vacuums at Costco and thought it would be nice to have a second vacuum "for quick pick-ups" and something convenient to vacuum the car with. I eventually decided on the LG CordZero A916 because I didn't want anything super fancy and it was "just" $400 (which is cheap for these kinds of vacuums).
Now let me state the obvious: I am an idiot for buying this thing. I knew all its major flaws. I knew that the floor head it came with couldn't turn off the spinning brush roll, which puts your hardwood floors in danger of being scratched. I knew that the suction was underpowered unless on the max setting which makes the battery last 10 minutes. I knew it was bagless and the tiny dirt cup would need to be emptied often and it would be disgusting every time. I knew that these things tend to break easily and it would be unlikely LG would service it 5 years down the road. And yet, I was an idiot and bought it anyway.
To the LG's credit, it does come with some good stuff compared to its competitors, such as two easily removable batteries and a charging stand that charges both batteries and doesn't require wall mounting. The batteries came discharged so upon unboxing, I let the vacuum charge overnight (which according to the manual, takes 4 hours).
The next day I vacuumed my hardwood floor because it had a lot of short dog hair on it. Even on the max setting I had to make many multiple passes across a small section of floor to get all the hair, thanks to the tiny brush head. I didn't even finish one room before the first battery died. I decided to use the second battery to try some dusting with the included bristle/crevice tool and once again, even on max setting, it just couldn't get anywhere near all the dust off surfaces.
With two dead batteries in hand and being blocked from using it for another few hours I decided to empty the half-full dust can. I took it outside, put it under a trash bin, popped it open, and nothing. Had to pull out the big clump of dirt with my hand. A lot of hair got caught in the cyclone too and that was absolutely disgusting to clean.
After that ordeal I concluded that because the short battery life rushes me clean fast and emptying the dirt bin is disgusting, that this vacuum was not convenient at all by a long shot. I then boxed it back up, returned it, and will expedite the process to get a Sebo or another Miele from one of the local vacuum shops.
Big shout out to Costco for saving me from my idiocy by having a generous return policy.
